Went for brunch. Items are marked GF and when I tried to order a smoked salmon Benny (on GF bread) the server informed me that the cream cheese was contaminated, which I appreciated. I switched to a classic Benny but when the food arrived (for 4 of us, 3 non-celiac diners) it was all barely warm. I’m basing my review on my food which was fine but not stellar. Couldn’t have the hash browns so got lots of fruit salad. Service was okay but not great considering we were the only table for a while. Beautiful setting though, and accomodating re GF issues.
It was nice while it lasted. Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience here. The first day we came, our server told me that the fryer was safe. So, I had a burger and fries, and I didn't get sick. However, the next day when we went back, a different server basically told me that I should have gotten sick because the fryer is used for gluten. When I told her that I didn't get sick, she was confused... and so was I. I've been celiac for 6 years now, and quite severe, with reactions to the smallest amount of gluten, consistently. We walked out because the server told us that she would get the manager, which she didn't do at all. I wasn't about to argue about food on my holiday. Could've just been an unkind server, and everyone else might have a better experience. This is just my anecdotal story. Be careful.
Good options. Ate here twice and all the servers were knowledgeable and keen to provide options. Kitchen was able to adjust the charcuterie plate for my needs.
Stayed at the Watermark for a few days. We decided to eat at the restaurant one night after looking at the menu which has both GF options and GF available. After ordering drinks and mentioning that I’m celiac, we ordered the Caesar salad which is listed as GFA. Some ingredients include gremolata and maple bacon lardons. While I can’t eat those, the waiter/manager brought the salad over with the gremolata and lardon on a separate plate. The lardons in theory would be okay to eat but he said they were in the same fryer as wonton crisps and didn’t want to include them on the salad because of cross contamination. Felt much better knowing they take those steps and indicate what is good to eat. (BTW my wife loved the gremolata and lardons with the salad). Can’t say for certain how precise they are are with everything else but just that gesture made me want to believe they take celiac and cross contamination seriously. Food and drinks and service were great.
