Review of 39 Rue De Jean

I have been here a couple of times when visiting Charleston and usually have a great meal. Last night, the waitress seemed offended when I asked about gluten free options and or a GF menu. “We don’t have a separate menu....what do you want?” Upon finding out the French Onion soup was not GF (in the past they made me a cup without croutons And I had no problem) she recommended the Truffle Potato soup, which I ordered. 20 minutes later, still no waitress or soup, so we moved to the bar which offered only slightly better service and recommendations. The food did not taste that good and i could not finished. I began to have my tell tale gluten exposure symptoms as we were leaving. I am betting it was the soup...but I also ate Coq a Vin. I will probably not be back despite previously having eaten here without a problem. Multiple strikes in one visit, and the servers and or kitchen did not deliver GF food despite what was told.
