Excellent service and procedures in the kitchen. My spouse and I both have Celiac disease and our waiter clearly explained our options. We were even able to enjoy world-class scalloped potatoes!
We had an amazing meal and neither of us felt the least bit sick afterward. I would highly recommend 801 Chophouse to anybody with celiac looking for a top quality steakhouse in the Twin Cities.
I got the prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes, and they both NIMA tested gluten free! The food was amazing, and I didn’t get sick. The waiter told me they cooked the prime rib covered in the oven and that the potatoes were cooked separately from other food. It’s super expensive but great for a special occasion. I believe most of the menu is gluten free but I didn’t ask for details on that.
801 Chophouse was the best meal i had on my trip. They had a great atmosphere, incredible service, and the food was IMPECCABLE!!! i had an incredible caesar salad and i don’t normally eat sea food but i gave the salmon ago as well as the steak. IT WAS THE BEST FOOD I HAVE WVER HAD IN MY WHOLE LIFE. the waiters were very knowledgeable about my allergy and they guided me to choose the best meal. i also got the ice cream/sorbet and it was super fresh ( homemade) and very tasty. this is at the top of gf restraunt favorites. 801 Steak house , YOU KILLED IT!!!
The wait staff was very well informed about celiac and a meal of prime rib, asparagus and mashed potatoes was completely safe and delicious.
There seems to be a good variety of GF options or dishes that can be made GF with minor adjustments. The menu isn’t labeled though. They had GF bread (not bad but no wow factor). I was able to try all the sides the table got to share (mashed potatoes, green beans, broccolini) and I had the cod for my main with a Caesar salad to start. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and tried a bite of someone’s apple bar. Everything was tasty. The cod and creme brûlée were the highlights for me. I did not get sick and I felt really confident with the communication level between the server and the chefs.
Emailed a few days before going to check GF options. Response was not helpful- just said they can make accommodations and attached the normal menu.
When we went, our waitress was not knowledgeable about GF options but did say she would check with the chef. She informed me that steaks are GF and they can make accommodations for seafood. Asked her about side options and to confirm which were GF- said she would check and never came back.
Had symptoms later in the evening after eating shellfish & veggies.
