This bakery is amazing! They have a fresh bakery counter but what’s really awesome is they have multiple freezers packed with everything you can imagine - different loaf breads, whoopie pies and ring dings, chocolate chip bagels, stuffed shells, and way more! They sell a few items at local grocery stores but going to mecca is a must!

I used to love this place and their products, but I won’t be going back again. The owners have always been rude, but I was willing to look past that to enjoy a treat once in a while. However, as others have also noted, the quality of their pastries have declined rapidly! Everything is dry, crumbly and practically tasteless. The frosting is absolutely unpalatable. The last time I went, I was buying a few things for after dinner with some friends. Literally everything went into the trash after a couple of bites! Not worth the money or my time anymore.

What a delightful surprise to find this “neighborhood” bakery. You name it and they had it! We loaded up on biscotti, danish, cookies, bread, all made there to name a few of their offerings.

A Celiac’s dream come true! A true bakery case with fresh gf pastries, cookies and cake… all the delights! I’ve been a patron for years now and can’t say enough good things about this place.

Literally EVERYTHING is gluten free. They also have imported Italian pasta that is some of the best I’ve had. Vegan and nut free gf items are available as well as FRESH RI “ Party pizza” aka pizza strips.

This was the worst food that I have ever tried to eat. I got sick, so I am not sure it is gluten free. They were very vague about who makes the prepackaged items. Nobody here seems to have any actual food allergies. Who gives this place any positive reviews? Must be family members. Go to any other GF Bakery. This stuff is horrible.

Unsure where the products come from. Alot of the labels state manufactured in a GF facility or distrubited by. If you ask questions, the staff get alittle annoyed.

I went to buy some treats for Easter for me and my family after seeing them online When I went in to the store I noticed the very burnt rice pies. In the case there were also some very over cooked and dry products. They could have been old as well. They also have a lot of items that are frozen. I left without buying anything. I was not impressed.

The staff is a little rude, especially if you have alot of questions.

Not impressed. I noticed that almost everything was marked distributed by, which means that they do not make the products. They advertise that they are a family owed bakery and that they bake their own products. They may want to open some of what they sell and taste it, not very good at all. Besides, where does it come from? They may want to consider making their goods but taste them to make sure that you can sell them.

Many options but I have always liked their chocolate eclairs. They have a lot of freshly made yellow cream inside and I know they make them fresh because I've called a few times to see if they have some and they advise they are being made and what time to come. It's tough to find gluten free yellow cream filled eclairs anywhere filled with fresh yellow cream.

I finally was in the area of A&J Bakery and was eager to check it out. I left with a whoopie pie, a brownie with caramel frosting, chocolate croissants and a pack of cinnamon rolls. I've sampled some of each and have mixed feelings. The cake in the whoopie pie had a great flavor and while it wasn't exactly moist, it wasn't crumbly dry either. The filling did not seem like traditional whoopie pie filling. It wasn't bad but it was not what I was expecting. The frosting on the brownie was just okay and I didn't eat it all. The brownie was the same as the whoopie pie cake, not moist but not crumbly dry and had a good flavor. The chocolate croissants we had sampled in store and were good. The cinnamon rolls were good. I didn't love the glaze on them, seemed strangely thick. The dough on the cinnamon rolls almost seemed more biscuit-y than bread-y...if that makes sense...but they were tasty. It seems they also cater to dairy free as well and I'm guessing that some of the frosting/glaze issues I had may have been due to me not being used to dairy free versions of them.

The prices are reasonable and the staff was friendly. Overall, I was pleased and would probably go back if I were in the area again.

Amazing! This is the first gluten free bakery I went to. And they are nut free too! Very accommodating many allergies and intolerances. My favorites are the pizza strips, cookies and cheesecakes. I’ve learned some products that aren’t amazing (lemon squares, or products involving a pastry type of deal) but I just know not to get. Otherwise, they’re great! They have soup too and sell gf package pastas and stuff! They have frozen sections as well with pizzas, mozzarella sticks, donuts, bagels and ice cream. So many great products and they do holiday special items!

This place is hit or miss for me. There are many things I absolutely love, which is why it’s so surprising how some things are just inedible. I am here about once a week, the pizza strips and spinach pies are my favorite, very tasty. I also really love in the freezer section, the mozzarella sticks, (although I find the cooking instructions are no where close), they are quite tasty, as is the frozen pizza and bagels. They also have incredible biscotti, and I love that they have an assorted flavor box. Their cookies are also very good. I have not liked any cupcake, cake, bread, or rolls they sell. They are all dry, crumbly, and flavorless. I’ve tried their banana bread and needed up throwing it away because it was drier than sawdust. I just bought some chocolate donuts and they are extremely dry as well. I will continue to come here regularly and buy the items that I love. They have some other products they sell that are great such as the pasta and the pannetone at Christmas.

Their baked goods taste dry. I can bake a better gluten free, dairy free, soy free cake using King Arthur Gluten Free Cake Mix. Their decorating skills are lacking. Their customer service is terrible. We bought two of their gingerbread houses and when we opened the package the gingerbread house parts were all stuck together like they packaged them while they were still warm. When we carefully took them apart the pieces broke so we couldn’t even make the over priced gingerbread house. We called and asked if we could exchange and the person on the phone apologized that it happened and then told us to bring them in for an exchange. When we got there (30 min drive for us) they told us they would not exchange them or give us our money back. If they had said that over the phone we would not have wasted our time driving there. They were very rude. Their pizza shells have too many spices; that it’s overpowering. Twist Bakery in Millis has much better baked goods and worth the extra drive.

I came here to check out this bakery after being referred here by a friend. I was just diagnosed with celiac disease 4 months ago and wanted to get some prepared foods because I do not cook. YUK!! The lasagna was horrible. The noodles were gross and the buns that I bought were gross too( very dry). Oddly when I looked at the packaging it states "distributed by" on it, which means it was not made by them, then who did. I noticed that the ingredient list had a lot of odd fillers and chemicals. I don't even see this in store bought foods. I am sorry but I am not going to go back. I will take my chances with my own cooking.

I also used to come to A&J a few years ago but stopped after getting sick when eating their pastries. I believe it is their egg replacer. I found out that they make very little of their own baked goods. Most of it is purchased, defrosted and put into their bakery case. That is why you see their products labeled "Distributed by." I am not sure that the place that they get their products from is dedicated gluten free, because I got sick (I am very sensitive to gluten.) Everything is dry and crumbly. Frostings taste like Crisco (with sugar granules.) I don't recommend.

Pretty terrible food :( I came here because I accidentally thought it was Sans Gluten Bakery. At first I was very excited about how many products and options there were but was actually super disappointed in the taste. First off, I got a donut from the fresh counter assuming I could eat it right away but it was actually frozen. The ricotta biscuits (cookies) were not very good. The spinach pie was tasty. The lasagna had decent flavor but the lasagna noodles were literally the thickness of pizza or crust and very dense. It wasn't horrible, but I won't be returning. I would recommend that they cut the products they offer in half and really work on making those tastier. Edit: now a few hours later and both my non-celiac partner and I are nauseous, bloated, and feeling sick from that lasagna. It may be gluten free but the rest of the ingredients did not make us feel good.

Anyone that has given this place better than a 1 star review does not have taste buds left, or must be related to the owner.

You can tell by looking that some of the items in the case are old. Against my better judgement, I bought an eclair, a piece of carrot cake and a lemon square. I only got one bite of each before I threw it out. When I told my fellow celiacs, they laughed and said: "We had a similar experience and won't be going back." Nobody that I have talked to had anything good to say about this bakery. Of course, I won't be going back.

Absolutely disgusting. I went to this bakery on the recommendation of a friend. I bought the thin mint cookies an éclair, and some frozen fruit filled pastry. Everything that I bought went into the trash. The thin mint cookies looked as if they had been frozen, defrosted and then frozen again, They had white spots on them, so I knew that they were not fresh, but the taste was horrible. They had a very strong oily taste. I looked on the bottom of the box and the expiration date had been relabeled. I was able to remove the sticker to see an expiration date of a week earlier. The éclair had to be old. The filling was dry and had what looked like uncooked egg in it. The pastry hdad 6 to a package and half were over cooked and the other half were under cooked. I will not be going there for a variety of reasons but because of the expiration labeling issue, I may be giving the Rhode Island Department of Health a call. Selling food that is old is one thing but out of date is a health hazard. Gross!!

I have been going to A&J for quite some time now and up until recently have loved everything that I have purchased there. After making A&J my go to place and typically going there at least every other week I started noticing a rapid decline in the quality of their food. In March I stopped in before going to my aunts birthday celebration and ordered a individual lemon pie, a butterscotch, and a few cutout cookies. Nothing was eaten because they were frozen solid, which they were not supposed to be. A few days later I was in and spoke to the owner about it in which she apologized and paid for the Zeppole which I bought for St. Joseph Day. After taking one bite of the Zeppole it went into the trash because of the horrible flavor and I typically do not eat burn food. I was fine with letting all this go because of how often I purchased phenomenal items so I was in on Thursday to purchase a dessert for Easter and also grabbed some sandwich rolls. The sandwich rolls also went into the trash just 2 days later when I discovered mold on each roll. Needless to say I will not be going back and would highly recommend sticking with UDIS bread and heading to one of the other 5 gluten free bakeries around Rhode Island. Sadly it seems that quality has lost to quantity at A&J.
