Very very sick from claimed “gluten free” desserts. Letdown and upset to say the least:( Their vanilla cupcakes taste like cornbread😂
Comment from business owner We're sorry you had a negative experience at our bakery. We just want to make sure that you didn't have one of our non-gluten free items by mistake. We actually own and operate two independent bakeries. One that is dedicated to gluten free baking and one (in another part of town) that is not. Both types of pastries are sold in the same building though. We try to mention this to each and every customer that comes into our bakery to make sure they are looking at the right bakery case for their needs. All of our gluten free items are held in a separate refrigerator emblazoned with sticker on the fridge that say Gluten Free. Additionally, all of the products in that fridge are wrapped or otherwise sealed before they leave our GF bakery and are not opened in our regular bakery. Each item also has GF stickers and/or packaging that is highly visible letting customers know they are buying and consuming GF items. That is why we find it highly unlikely that you got sick from an actual gluten free dessert due to these safeguards. If you can let us know what you ate though, we'd be happy to look into it further, and sorry for your illness.
For those special occasions they are great! Pricey but worth it. They do have a dedicated bakery behind their existing one. You can buy their cupcakes at different store locations too. Their products in stores are in the freezer section. Can't wait for their new dessert bar downtown!
Passing through town we finally found gluten free vegan cupcakes for my mom! They had chocolate and vanilla cupcakes made in a separate kitchen. They were stored in a plastic bag in a separate fridge so I didn't see any chance for cross contamination.
They make the best gluten free muffins and cupcakes in Boise and the entire Treasure Valley! I love the GF cupcakes they sell at Whole Foods. The owner said they used to have a bakery that wasn't dedicated to GF, but since they relocated last year to their new location on Roosevelt, they do have a separate building that's entirely dedicated to gluten free baking.
Overpriced for okay products.... Unfortunately, their products taste "good...ish for gluten free." There is a much better option across the valley that tastes AMAZING for MUCH cheaper... I also heard from a friend that while they state that they are gluten-free, they do not really bake in a dedicated gluten-free facility.. She got really sick. Buy beware, I guess. Amaru Confections gets a "meh" rating from me. 1 1/2 Stars.
