Waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Most of the menu is GF and things are clearly marked.
We ate here, the food was great! So good that we decided to have them deliver to our hotel. When we called up, the person on the phone, after telling him we are celiac, told us the flour and corn tortillas are grilled on same grill. We decided not to order. Be aware of this. As others have mentioned also, the chips are not GF as they do not have a dedicated fryer.
Delicious food! We called ahead if they offered GF food and they explained some of the GF options. We went there and the staff seemed knowledgeable. Got beef enchiladas with the sauce on the side. Better to get the meat which is not made with a lot of condiments. For any sauces/spices for meat that you are not sure whether it is homemade or bottle stuff, just get it on the side and you will be okay. Will definitely go there again!
Yes this place is everything! The server was so confident and knowledgeable and there were only a few things that I couldn’t have! I had the chicken fajitas and they were the best that I’ve eaten outside of Mexico! Margaritas were amazing as well. Definitely recommend.
The tacos made on the same oven with all the gluten food. Not much friendly:(
Absolutely love this place!! Have been here probably a dozen times in the past 3 years and never been sick. It’s our first stop when we land. The soft corn taco shells are made fresh in house and are better than any I’ve ever had. Other than the fried items, they say almost everything on the menu is gf. Order the strawberry margarita frozen :)
I had a chicken taco, grilled shrimp taco, and tortilla soup. Tacos were yummy, I’ve had better, but they were good and filling and I didn’t get sick. Soup was average- I’d pass on that next time.
The tortilla chips are not GF because of a shared fryer. But, my tacos were good-ish. I was disappointed that my chorizo tacos ended up being chorizo POTATO tacos (meaning they were chunks of potato seasoned with chorizo spices), but the carnitas taco was good. It was a decent restaurant.
We had the giant plate of loaded tortilla chips which were decent but a little bland. I felt safe eating there and didn't get glutened. It was a nice atmosphere for an evening snack.
Don’t have a separate menu, but most items can be made with corn tortillas. No fried options. Gluten free beer available, and everything was a great price! Tastiest carnitas I’ve ever had
Hands down the best place to eat in key west!!! Ate here twice with no issues (celiac) and the staff knew right away what I could order safely.
Staff was very knowledgeable about options for GF stuff on the menu. I had a chicken burrito bowl and it was delicious. I am super sensitive and didn’t get sick.
Very celiac friendly. Stay away from fryer and all is GF.
We never miss this place when we visit Key West!! The best!!!!
Awesome Authentic Gluten Free Restaurant!
When I inquired with server about gluten free options she immediately asked if I have celiac and walked me through the menu options. Great options! I had taco platter-carnitas are delicious! Great atmosphere, I recommend seats facing street for Key West ambience!
The server was very knowledgeable. Unlike other reviews, she said the only thing that can be guaranteed free of cross contamination is the burrito bowl so I went with that. It was good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere in a good location.
This place is amazing! the waitstaff was knowledgeable and great to work with.
Great for celiacs. Very knowledge waitress, went over the menu with me, almost the entire menu was safe. I wish they had normal corn chips for nachos, but tacos, burritos, etc were tasty! They even had Stella Cider and Omission beer.
Food was great. Staff a little annoyed at GF request but did know what I could eat (corn tortillas, nothing deep fried).
Tasty and they know what is / isn't safe. Check it out for good Mexican options that are gf.
Awesome, very knowledgeable about Gluten allergy and which dishes to avoid due to risk of cross contamination.
The tacos were great! Just order corn tortillas and let them know you're gluten free, and you're all set!
Knowledgeable and honest! Great experience and delicious food. The shrimp fajita was great! Thinking about going again for lunch.
A do not miss restaurant if you like fresh, delicious Mexican food. Staff very knowledgeable about gluten free options, cross contamination. We ate here twice while in Key West. Excellent!
I ate here 3 times in 4 days in Key West. Excellent GF tacos. The staff were all well trained and guided me through the menu. I highly recommend this place as I had no reactions after eating lunch here every day. They also have great Cuban coffee!
Amazing tacos! I would definitely recommend Amigos. GF beer options included Stella cidre and omission.
Majority of the menu is gf, waitress very knowledgeable about celiac, very helpful. Cross contamination with chips but my portion was so big I didn't have room for them anyway! Also had gf beer and cider.
Fabulous food! Had the chicken and shrimp fajitas and they were delicious. Service was excellent too!
Excellent! When I asked what I could eat the waitress said "it would probably be easier if I just tell you what you can't eat" meaning that most of the menu is gluten free. Obviously no flour tortillas.. also no chips if you're celiac.. they are fried in the same frier as flour items. I got chicken fajitas and gluten free cider 😎
The server was SO good in making sure I had a meal I could eat! Please eat here!
When I asked what items weren't gluten free, the waitress immediately asked if I was a celiac. A little on the expensive side, but food was delicious.
Had a bowl. Delicious!
Great staff and food!
Very good about gluten free and very knowledgeable. Great food. I've been here twice and ate safely both times.
GF Heaven!! Omg I could eat here every day!
I had a bowl made with carnitas and added a side of guacamole (instead of the cheese) and it was delicious -- very filling.
Wonderful, filling meal in a very welcoming atmosphere. Not everything is gluten-free (of course), and the waitress was very forthcoming and informed about cross-contamination possibilities.
We had the "kitchen sink nachos". They were tasty and I didn't get sick!
Very great place!!! This was my favorite place to eat on my trip. We went three times and didn't get sick once! Can't have the chips which is kinda a bummer but the bowl was so good it didn't bother me!! I'll come back to Key West just for this food.
Food was very good. They share the oven for heating up tortillas so I couldn't eat them and the chips share a fryer. Bowl was great and filling.
My food was good but not great. I had a bowl with beans, rice, and grilled fish. The portion size was very filling. The fish had good flavor. The flavor of the bowl overall was overpowered by lime which was quite strong. I'm not sure how confident I would be about tacos or items other than the bowls. My dinner companion is Guatemalan and rated his meal a "1" for poor quality and poor flavor of the beef and way too much lime in the guacamole. Hostess also was a bit rude. Server was attentive. Margarita was refreshing.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant as their menu states they are 95% gluten free. Their square tacos are made with 100% ground corn and water (according to their website). But upon inquiring about my gluten free options as a celiac I got a brisk response that I should order a bowl. I got the carnitas bowl and I will say the meat was very flavorful. However, I am not convinced that my server took my gluten free request seriously. They also got my friends order completely wrong. I wish they could go the extra 5 percent and be a fully gluten free restaurant. For that reason I will not mark them as celiac friendly and will probably not return in the future unless they change.
Phenomenal! 95% of the menu is gluten free (it says this on the menu) tacos are wonderful, really liked the carnitas but my fav was the grilled corn on the cob- omg. The waitress was awesome, they take great pride in their gluten free rep. She asked me if I was celiac & then said no chips - same fryer. No prob, cause there is so much more to eat here! Highly recommend! Oh and my least expensive meal on the island, but prob ties for fav meal!
This is the most Southern most place I have ever eaten gluten free food, and it was awesome. The staff was friendly and our server was incredibly knowledgeable. I had the fish tacos which were incredible. So good, I double checked and asked that the soft taco shell was in fact gluten free. The server assured me it was and said that she even asked them to change their gloves before making my food. They know their stuff. So if you are getting drunk in Key West, stumble over for some great food at Amigos and enjoy.
95% gluten free menu!
We had great service and atmosphere here when we visited key west. The staff was extremely knowledgable about what items contained and didn't contain gluten. They also were well versed in cross contamination and made sure everything was ok! My husband loves tacos, and he said their tacos were the best he's ever had. Great food, awesome people watching atmosphere and I didn't get sick. A little pricey, but well worth it!
Good street food! Celiac friendly!
My son is very much celiac .. In his words, this place rocks!! Once we spoke to the waitress she said no problem, the chef will change his gloves !!
Good food! Generous portions!! Fairly knowledgeable staff when it comes to what could be cross contaminated. Also homemade corn tortillas are best I've ever had. I recommend it!
