I really love this place. My husband and I go here all the time. I have never gotten sick. I gave them four stars only because they do not have a plethora of options. Gluten free pancake is great, and, if you get an omelet, make sure to request a gluten free english muffin. Like the other poster said, make sure to NOT order the potatoes; they are fried with other gluten items.
Not busy on a Tuesday morning, they glutened me. As always, I made sure to ask if it was the gluten-free meal. I took a bite before my /real/ pancakes came out. Tbh their regular pancakes were mediocre at best. No clue about the regular ones.
Fantastic gf, df breakfast. The manager made my breakfast to ensure that both my allergens were taken care of. This restaurant even went the extra mile to “toast” my gluten free bread on a clean griddle. This is an upscale, pricey restaurant but is well worth it in order to have an allergy free, delicious breakfast. There is a McDonalds next door so just get your family member who is gf their breakfast to go. 😉
Gluten free menu available upon request. The restaurant is very clear about not being a dedicated gluten-free facility and warns of the possibility of cross contamination. While not an option for sensitive celiac patients, I, as a non-celiac gluten sensitive person, enjoyed pancakes without any reactions. There are additional menu items such as the city grits that are naturally gluten free.
Staff misled me, this place is “gluten friendly” which is absolutely meaningless. They offer gluten free bread and menu items, but do not have separate prep tools and refuse to take precautions. Do not eat here unless eating gluten free is a choice.
Had amazing omelette and gf pancakes! Hard to pick between gf and pancakes but wasn’t disappointed in the pancakes! They have a separate GF menu that has many options! We will be returning! Did not get sick, feel funny or anything and I am very sensitive to cross contamination.
I can’t say enough about this restaurant!! Our waitress, Shay, was very attentive. She had a great personality from the beginning so make sure you ask for her when you go! When I asked for the gluten free menu (they have An area the at the bottom of the menu letting you know they have one), she grabbed one. She made sure to tell me that the pancakes were amazing, and she was right!! I think that was the first real meal I’ve had in a month! I didn’t get the name of the lady that came from the kitchen, but she trains the kitchen in new restaurants. She came out to talk and was amazing also. Fabulous people and an amazing amount of concern, which is rare when you have to eat gluten free. The menu does say that it’s “gluten friendly”, that there is a possibility of cross contamination, however I still feel safe eating there.
As a celiac, it isn’t as friendly with options as it would be for someone with a gluten allergy. With a gluten allergy, they have a good menu for pancakes and omelettes, but the options are more limited for a celiac, depending on your sensitivities. I wasn’t able to do any of their pancakes because of cross contamination and they don’t have a separate toaster for English muffins, bread, etc. I got an omelette and grits and was good to go.
Pancakes! They also have the usual egg offerings, but Pancakes!! Tell them if it’s your first visit (it was for us). My gluten eating boys were given beignets and I was given a mug to take home. Staff was great and answered all of my questions.
A local friend brought me here for breakfast. I was so surprised when I asked about a GF menu and they handed me a pretty extensive menu which included GF pancakes. I had bananas foster pancakes that were amazing! The bacon is baked and wonderful. We had no complaints about the service. The hosts were very friendly and our waitress was wonderful.
Very excited to have so many gluten free options on the GF menu. Ordered the Salmon power bowl but can’t wait to go back to try the pancakes.
Food was good, love that there are a lot of options for GF. The pancakes were good, house made sausage was just ok. The server had very little personality and didn’t smile once. All other servers were very personable, I even asked another one a question and she was super helpful. Food took 30 minutes to come out, seemed like a long time. The manager was also very nice. Even chatting with us after our meal. We’d definitely go back.
Very knowledgeable staff. Great selections on menu. Excellent pancakes
Has a gf friendly menu, all the pancakes can be made gf as well. They are very friendly about being gf and even told me that the potatoes are fried with other gluten stuff so they understand. I am not super sensitive tho so it’s okay for me.
Had a wonderful breakfast here. I am gf/df/corn free and got an omelet, toast, bacon, fruit and breakfast potatoes. The waitress was very helpful, answered questions and looked up ingredients. Highly recommend. They have gf pancakes if you don’t have to cut dairy.
We heard this place had a gluten friendly menu but were delighted to find they had many pancake options. I chose a flight of pancakes which was a trio of their different pancakes: lemon blueberry goat cheese, mixed berry and cream, and bananas foster. This trio came with eggs and meat as well. It was a feast for around $12! One of my kids got the GF pancakes off the kids menu(!) and they tasted so good to her she was sure she had been given gluten. A non-Celiac child ordered the same meal only not GF so she taste tested the 2 and said, “I was happy with my breakfast until I tasted your pancakes!!” She also thought they were excellent but tested them against someone else’s at the table to determine that the GF pancakes were actually GF! Delicious!! I had to fight people for a taste of my own food!! Of note, there was a marker on the GF pancakes to denote they were GF. And the servers and hosts were knowledgeable as well. Can we open one in our home town?
Amazing. Seriously. I am gluten free, along with my two daughters, ages 8 and 4. As you can imagine, finding gf options that they want is hard. This place is amazing. They make their own gf pancakes, toast, sausage, etc.. No frozen udi’s here. My husband is not gf, and he said it was the best breakfast he has ever had. I wish I lived here so we could make this our regular place! You will not be disappointed!
My husband and I love eating here while in town. The GF pancakes with berries are delicious!! a lot of other great GF options too like the house made sausage. My husband is not GF and he loves it all as much as I do!
They do have a separate GF menu. Food was ok... Not horrible, but nothing to write home about. Service was awful. The first time they brought my plate out it had regular English muffins on it... Had to ask for them to remake my omelet. The steel cut oats we're good, but also brought out incorrectly. By the time my meal arrived my fiance was nearly finished with his. Didn't get sick... So I guess it's safe in the gluten free department... But was painful getting the food to the table.
YUM!! Wish we had seen on this app & eaten here sooner on our trip so we could make it back. They have a pretty big GF menu with plenty of breakfast (GF pancakes, omelets) and lunch type (sandwiches) foods. The GF pancakes are light & fluffy and everything this girl dreams of. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
The staff was awful. My daughter’s plate came out with real toast on it. Also, I feel the gluten free pancakes weren’t gluten free as she was vomiting in the parking lot as soon as we left
Located in the heart of Fairhope. Breakfast is pricey, $15, but worth it because is so difficult to find a restaurant that offers both a gluten and dairy free menu. Yes, the gf, df pancake isn’t great and takes the entire syrup bottle that is given with the meal to get it down :). I called my order in and they got it right.
This cafe is great! The wait is reasonable, with lots of benches outside to wait on (and coffee while you wait). They have a gluten free menu-- the kitchen is not entirely gluten free, so very serious celiacs might have problems. But they had delicious pancakes, and overall a great, welcoming staff and environment!
Had the breakfast. I ordered the pancakes with berries. It came with eggs and sausage made on site. Everything was delicious! Honestly the best breakfast sausage I’ve ever had. Pancakes were delicious too!
The food is delicious! They do have a Gluten Friendly menu. With that said, you still have to ask about sauces and the way it is being prepared. Depending on your server, they will go out of the way to make sure you are safe. We ate here twice. The first time was busy, and the waitress seemed bothered by my questions and was not willing to ask the kitchen to prepare my meal safely. Hulk Hogan comes here...so, you may just get a chance to see him. The coffee is worth coming for...even if you do not eat anything.
Gluten friendly menu. Server was knowledgeable and explained how their could be cross contamination issues in their kitchen. All staff was friendly and seemed to work well together. I had shrimp and grits and it was delicious.
I ordered GF pancakes and they brought me regular ones. They did remake the order but I ate after everyone else in my party as a result. Not a good dining experience and the pancakes weren’t good enough to give it a second shot. Also they are only “gluten friendly” so not for celiacs.
Great place to go! Food was amazing. I personally did not trust the pancakes as the menu clearly stated gluten friendly. And major cross contamination is possible. I stuck with an omelette cause I figured it was prepared in a slightly more safe area. I asked for no bread at all because they have gluten friendly not gluten free. I am very sensitive and did not get sick!! Would recommend if they’re not slammed. 3 stars strictly because we waited an hour and 20 mins to even be sat. And another hour waiting on food. It was insane. Food was delicious but not worth almost 3 hours of being at a restaurant. The only reason we let happy was because of Paris!! Our server was incredible!!! She made up for us having such a bad experience in the beginning. From the moment we sat down with her we all had smiles on our face and had a great breakfast.
Wonderfully pleasant staff and great food!!
My gf meal came out non-gf luckily I noticed it didn’t seem right. They brought my eggs out and they tasted like fish (I also have a shellfish allergy) so at this point I ask for a manager. Manager argues with me that the eggs couldn’t taste like fish (others in my party had tried them and agreed) and didn’t at all try to rectify the situation. Basically they didn’t take any allergy seriously, disappointing as I’ve been to other locations that were great
I love this place! Great pancakes! My waiter did tell me that they usually make the gluten-free pancakes on the same service as the regular pancakes, however. Since I am very sensitive to gluten cross-contamination, I asked that my pancakes be made on a separate pan from the regular pancakes. With that special request in place, I did not have any problems and felt fine after eating here on two occasions. The wait staff and manager were also very nice and helpful.
