I worked here for a bit. Their kitchen is covered in flour because they make the dough back there. Not safe for celiac.

Avalanche is legitimately one of the reasons I moved to Athens. They are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and really are on top of their game. I've never felt sick after eating here, and they do a great job of marking gluten free items on their menu.

Celiac

Review

I was visiting last weekend and needed to find a place to eat. I called up there and spoke with the girl on the phone. She mentioned having a family member with a sensitivity who has eaten here regularly without issue. I explained that mine was an allergy that I needed to avoid and was concerned with cross-contamination. I was assured that if I mentioned it, they would take precautions. Another caring woman who I was visiting contacted her friend who is Celiac, and informed me that she's had no reaction when eating here. Called back to place an order when one of my friends were on their way to pick-up order. The guy on the phone wasn't so confident, and when ge asked another female on the background about safe toppings, I was told eggs have gluten in them (they do not). Despite this, I ordered a pizza to share with my dearest friends. The pizza was good and I had zero issues. Recommend this pizza, which I'm told is one of the better go-to places to grab a pie in Athens. I absolutely loved my time there and hope to return soon. This pizza place will surely be on the menu if/when I return to this lovely area of Ohio!

DO NOT eat here if you have Celiac Disease. Although their pizza and subs are absolutely delicious it is not worth getting sick. I had their GF Italian sub 4 days ago and am still trying to recover from it. It's just not safe.

It was awesome to have a warm Italian sub again (with gluten/milk free bun, and no cheese on sub)!

Gluten free pizza does taste great. At this time it isn't celiac friendly because of cross contamination. You can request they wash the cutter which should help some of you are just intolerant.
