This is a dedicated GF bakery. The staff was very nice and there was a good selection of items. We got multiple items and they were all good.

**This is the dedicated gluten free bakery, not the coffee house.** Great place to get gluten free baked goods. I've been there a few times. The staff has always been friendly.

SAFETY: I think people leaving reviews are mixing up Avellino Coffeehouse on Railroad and Avellino Dedicated Gluten-Free Bakery on Cornwall. (Same owners. Different facilities.) The Gluten-Free Bakery is a dedicated gluten-free bakery. I just talked to the woman at the counter today about cross-contamination and she said they just don’t have anything in the building to cross-contaminate with. // At the Avelino Coffeehouse on Railroad, they sell items from the gluten-free bakery and they also make other bakery items there with gluten. Because flour goes up in the air, it might be possible that there’s cross-contamination happening at the coffeehouse, but I can’t see how that would happen at the gluten-free facility.
FOOD: I got a pile of different things today and have, so far, tried the carrot cake muffin and the pumpkin chocolate chip muffin. They also tasted like actual muffins. ACTUAL MUFFINS!!! Not grainy or powdery or super oily, just nice fluffy muffins with good flavor. I liked the carrot cake one best, but both were good.
That said, since eating the two muffins, I’m having some kind of reaction with burning skin under my eyes and itchy arms and back. This happens to me sometimes when I accidentally eat trace amounts of gluten. I may be allergic to something else in the muffin (I’m starting to suspect that I don’t do well with tapioca), but it’s impossible to know unless you bake things yourself.
I’ll try the loaf of bread tonight and will update if I have any reactions.

There seems to be some confusion between the two Avellino locations. The Avellino Gluten-Free Bakery on Cornwall at Alabama is a DEDICATED GLUTEN-FREE BAKERY. Zero cross-contamination possible with wheat because they built this separate facility to be gluten-free. The Avellino Coffeehouse on Railroad Ave serves gluten-free items from their dedicated bakery AND items with wheat and gluten. Because the bake items with gluten there, it’s possible that some residual flour might somehow touch a gluten-free item. I recommend buying gluten-free items directly from the designated gluten-free facility if you’re worried about cross contamination. :)
Every time I’m in Bellingham I stop there and stock up on all their gluten free goodness! Everything is amazing!! I keep their rosemary bread in the freezer to use when I make homemade croutons!!

CAUTION
Avellino is absolutely 100% NOT dedicated gluten free. I ate there today based on this apps suggestion that they were dedicated gluten free and not only did they have gluten foods sitting next to gluten free foods in their case, but I received eye rolls and indifference when I mentioned my wheat allergy. It has been a few hours since I ate there and I can tell I was contaminated with wheat. This place is not safe, CAUTION, BEWARE, NOT CELIAC OR ALLERGY FRIENDLY!!

Don't go. Was told by someone I trust they don't take celiac disease seriously, thinks it's made up and not for real. Not at all sure the facilities are dedicated despite their claim. Don't go there if you're celiac. Not worth getting sick.

Fully gluten free facility. I popped by on a trip and had a danish, cake donut and cupcake without any reaction. Would go back again.

Had a horrible experience there. Bread is not made fresh daily. Owner is extremely rude and disrespectful. When I tried to leave a review online he responded with lies and threats. I ended up removing my review as I do not to interact with bullies.

The only bakery I go to anymore for gluten free bread. Their sourdough bread is fantastic! I’ve never gotten sick here before. If you go to the bakery instead of buying from the co-op, the owner usually throws in baked goods for free — I usually walk out with a free cookie or two.

They can cater to any dietary restrictions. Friendly employees. Have a lot of items that are gluten free and are dedicated to safety for all customers. They are able to customize any order to your specification. Breads are amazing and they can make anything upon request of you give them 2 day notice.

Not gluten free per Nima tester. Beware the owner swears its gluten free but it is not safe. My mother Purchased multi grain gluten free bread that tested positive for gluten. This company is fraudulent. I'm forced to give them one star or I can't post my review.

I go here all the time, I love all their GF baked goods and the GF breakfast sandwiches. Never had any problems with the food here and I’m super sensitive celiac, highly recommend!
Yes
Highly recommend asking for a tour of the facility and how they ensure their Gluten Free claims. Like the Coop, they are not third party certified. Unlike the Coop, it is unclear whether or not this bakery regularly tests for the presence of gluten.
Not dedicated. However, the GF baked items are prepared at a dedicated bakery and the staff has always seemed to be well-educated. GF items are kept separate from non-GF items.
Do not go! Not dedicated! False advertising!

Nothing fancy but it's totally dedicated GF and the food is great. What more can I ask for
