I'm giving this a lower score because of my experience. Yes, they have a gluten free menu. I believe the GF menu is a celiac friendly menu, so they're very careful. However their gf menu is listed with things that are already gf - Meats and salads. That's fine, but you could go most places and be fine. When asking the server if she knew if the queso had gluten (I have an allergy, not celiacs) she responded with an attitude, "I don't know. I'm not a gluten expert". I don't expect them to know every ingredient, but a simple no would do. Unless you're celiac, id skip this place. The gf menu is boring, the service is slow, it's overpriced, and the servers are jerks (more than one experience here). Go to Brasa across the street where they actually try to have a delicious menu for those needing gf.
Def not safe. Ordered through their door dash system- made notes everywhere that I had a gluten allergy. I had ordered the filet (which also, by the way, had no indication had gluten with it-even so, I specified my allergy) and it came in the same box and with fried onions!! Even the chopped salad I ordered as a side had tortilla strips (which were fried) on top of it. This place has good food- but definitely not safe!!!
Amazing Gluten Free Menu with variety. I ordered steak medallions with baked potato and steamed green beans off the gluten free menu. Steak came over crunchy onions, yes gluten free. Green beans had a wonderful sweet glaze. It was delicious and a good portion. Took half home for dinner.
Accomodating to the trendy GF diet, we found this restaurant to have no idea how to protect a celiac patron from cross-contamination. Expensive, chain food, and a no-bun burger is not a GF menu. "Salads are also gluten free, I'd have to check on the dressings, though."
They have a separate gluten free menu you have to ask for which has a variety of options including salads, chicken and steak. I had fajitas and they were delicious. The server confirmed that everything I ordered had to be gluten free and it seemed to me that they took extra precautions to make sure it was prepared safely for me.
Gluten Free items clearly marked on the menu. Several choices. The waitress was familiar with Celiac and cross contamination. She explained that all GF orders are handled with extreme caution. I had the woodfired chicken which was excellent. I did have to send my salad back as it had a piece of bread on it. Big oops. That was the only mishap. The service is often a bit slower there, so do not go if you're in a hurry. And don't miss the flourless chocolate torte for dessert... Yummy!
This Bonfire location is historically one of our family's favorite restaurants, so I reserve the right to adjust this review up or down based on subsequent visits. Our daughter was only very recently diagnosed with celiac. We do not yet know her sensitivity levels with cross-contamination or trace amounts. This restaurant "local-chain " has mixed reviews from the boards I've read. Some glowing, some not, presumably based on location? What we do know is: Pros: Staff at Eagan seemed knowledgeable about "gluten-free" (note the air quotes) and menu adjustments and prep separation *until* pressed. Cons: On the Eagan menu item chosen by our daughter - the Bull Bites - the GF accommodation is along the line of a "less food for the same price" adjustment . Cons: Staff didn't know difference between "gluten-free" and "not containing gluten ingredients ." Pros: Food is super yummy and some (not this Eagan one?) locations are known as celiac friendly. Cons: Our celiac daughter ordered the GF Bull Bites with no spices. They were spicy nonetheless. Bottom line: Not sure. We're NOT sure if she was okay or not afterwards (24 hours after our visit, our friends' kid vomited (stomach flu) less than 2 feet from her... hours later, our daughter got sick again despite GD diet... she only had vomit, and not her full array of GI symptoms. I'm inclined to believe the tummy flu.),
The food seemed ok, but I did cramp up a little bit. I wonder about cross contam here since they did not seem very used to dealing with their gluten free menu (the hostess took a minute to remember where they kept the gluten free menus making me think they rarely prepare the gluten free meals here).
