The owner's wife is celiac and they did a great job educating their staff on gluten allergies. Everything on their menu, except a few things on their kids menu, can be made GF and they only fry things with tapioca flour so their fries aren't cross contaminated. It was so nice to be able to eat out without having to explain our life's health history. 😂

I had the brisket tacos with safe, sweet potato fries & they were delicious! You must try the pulled pork nachos! A very nice outing which I don’t do often since I have many food intolerances as well. The food was very good & the only glutenous food in the restaurant are the buns for the burgers. They offer GF buns & lettuce wrapped burgers. Great music & vibe :)

My family and I visited The Backyard for the first time for my birthday in early June. I am gluten-free and my niece has some severe food allergies. They were fabulous at hearing out our needs and concerns, and then helping us feel reassured that everything would be safe. The owner stopped by our table multiple times to check in and our waitress was amazing and very knowledgeable! The food was fabulous and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Great restaurant with very friendly owner! We always have great food and friendly service. Almost everything on the menu can be made GF! Staff is very knowledgeable, and even fried items can be eaten safely. My favorite is the brisket burger with sweet potato fries. There’s even GF banana pudding with GF cookie crumbs for dessert! Lots of great, safe items here. I have Celiac, have eaten here multiple times, and never gotten sick.

We visit this restaurant at least twice a month. The owner always stops by our table to chat. His wife is gf and he understands the importance of cross contamination. There are 3 dining areas. There is an outside area with a stage for local musicians and yard games for kids. There is a bar and a third area for more quiet dining. It opened during the beginning of the pandemic and has been able to succeed and had been named a "best of" restaurant in spite of its newness. They are currently working on a sister restaurant in the same building that will have a different menu and crafted beers.

This place is amazing! Not only do they have GF buns, but everything on the menu is or can be made gluten free except the kid's chicken tenders, which are baked in the oven so the fryer is dedicated GF. They only use rice flour and tapioca starch in the kitchen. I know all this because manager (owner?) came to our table and talked to us. His wife is celiac so he was extremely knowledgeable. He even made us some special fried pickles to try! (Which were amazing) The food was wonderful and it was so great to get to go to a restaurant and order anything and not be worried about getting sick.

This is one of the safer place to eat and one of the very few restaurants that carry GF desserts. I like the chicken sandwich and fries. It's pretty good!
The service is usually fine, but depending on who serves you. Most of the wait staff are friendly. When it gets so busy, the kitchen folks do make mistakes but they correct it immediately. This happens everywhere. I like the ambience of this place...very much a Texas feel.

I really wanted to like this place and drove all the way out to Murphy to try it based on reviews. Sadly, it was just plain bad. The food here is frozen, reheated, and overpriced. You’re getting bargain food served at room temperature, and paying premium prices. We tried a little bit of everything and here are the descriptions: brisket queso- served COLD, lumpy texture, does not resemble any cheese product in any way, topped with cloyingly sweet meat & bbq sauce, and very greasy chips. Tacos- fell apart, served room temperature, we did enjoy the cabbage topping. Ribs- terrible, cold, tough, and overly sweet (tasted like candied bacon). Green beans- good. Fries- awful, soggy, flavorless. And if you order coffee- the white liquid they bring which resembles cream/milk, is in fact some sort of coffeemate- like super-sweet, flavored liquid as we found out the hard way. Two stars because there were many GF options and the people seem nice, but if you like good, or even fresh food you will want to skip this place. Looks like a fun atmosphere for little kids if you have them- unfortunately, the bathrooms are a reflection of this.

This place is INCREDIBLE! The owner is kind and makes GF recipes specifically to taste better than non gluten free- including the brownie for dessert! I can’t recommend the brisket queso enough either, or the adorable backyard area with yard games. Don’t forget to try their backyard margarita- one if my favorites.

Almost everything here can be made gluten free. The owners wife has Celiac so they are very aware of what they offer and how to keep you safe. The food is delicious and they have a wonderful family friendly outdoor patio with games, picnic tables, and live music several nights a week.

DELICIOUS! Met the owner and he is super nice. He explained what was and was not gluten-free (everything can be made gluten free). We had the fried potato skins, brisket tacos, and decided to try both the turtle and pumpkin cheesecake. Excited to come back here with the rest of the family. They also let me see the brunch menu and they have gluten-free waffles!
Yes
The owners wife has celiac disease so they’re very familIar with all things gluten free! They do have normal buns but they’re prepared separately. Fries have their own fryer. Nearly everything can be gluten free if it’s not already.
Their food was so good. We did not try the gluten free bun but have heard good things.
They have delicious cocktails, live music, and friendly staff
