I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet as it's just a great gf experience. First, they offer gf soy sauce, as well as a gf ponzu sauce, so you don't have to eat everything dry while the rest of your crew is getting to dip into all the things. As for dishes, there are so many to choose from: maguro salad, shrimp or veggie thukpa (rice noodles in broth), beef chimichurri kabobs, edamame, tuna ponzu (ask for the gf ponzu sauce), and several sushi rolls. I definitely never leave hungry, and I have never gotten sick. Bonus is that the atmosphere is beautiful.
This place is great! They do have a gluten free menu. I’m also soy free, and that’s was clearly listed, too. I had nigiri and the Hamachi Roll. They also made me a margarita mocktail that was amazing. The food was great! You can even have the poke bowl with gluten free ponzu if you can have soy.
I had a really good experience at Bamboo on 2nd. I asked one of the managers (I think that's what he was) about a gluten-free menu, and he came over and pointed out everything on the menu that was or could be made gluten-free. He asked if I had celiacs, so he knew how careful we had to be. All of their sushi can be made gluten-free, their Seared Tuna Ponzu could be made gluten-free using a gluten-free ponzu (and it looked really good), their shrimp skewer could be made gluten-free, and thukpa noodle soup could be gluten-free with shrimp.
The sushi was amazing, I had some salmon nigiri and the rainbow roll. They accidentally served the rainbow roll with the sauce. The manager came over to check on me, and he realized the mistake and had my sushi remade. I got the thukpa with shrimp, and it was pretty good. I wish I could have gotten a different kind of protein instead of shrimp, but they all had marinades with gluten in them. The manager came over again when I got my entree to check that everything was safe for me.
Overall, the experience was very good, and all the workers were very kind and accommodating. The sushi was definitely the way to go!
