I was glutened here, but I suspect it was my fault for not double checking whether the fryer was shared when I ordered the yuca fries (although I did let the server know I had a gluten allergy). Most of the menu is gluten free though so I’d love to go back!

Super cool place and incredibly helpful staff. The arepas I got were awesome as well as the drinks. Very cool vibe too. HOWEVER… the menu is very misleading for Celiacs who need to be safe. I talked with multiple staff who were very helpful. They let me know they use a shared fryer for everything. They stated it’s not often that something with gluten (like kids nuggets) goes in. But it can. So if I’m sensitive I should avoid many of the sides or dishes like the plantains that come w many meals marked gluten free. So that cuts off much of the menu I thought was available. It’s a cool place to go and the food is great. But if you want to be safe for Celiac, you really need to scale back the “gf” listing on the menu because there are many fried components integrated in ones marked “gf”. Make sure you ask if any components of what you order go thru the fryer. They are helpful to answer.

Such a great restaurant full of a lot of naturally gluten free dishes. I asked our server about a shared frier and he said the fries and chips were separated in a different frier. It was nice to see a menu where the overwhelming majority of the dishes was gluten free. I got one of the arepas and the yucca fries as a side and it was delicious! Would highly recommend!

Food was fantastic! Everything on the menu was gluten free except the sandwiches and burgers. Nothing with gluten is used in the fryer so I was able to eat chips and guacamole. I had chicken tacos they were very filling . I had no issues and I am an extremely sensitive celiac.

I’ve heard great things about this place from the locals and from my friends who also struggle with food sensitivities. They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer, and the majority of their menu is or can be made gluten-free; just inform your server and they will guide you according to your needs. The staff was very knowledgeable about Celiac and food allergens and I had zero reactions to the delicious meal and cocktails they prepared for me. I suspect I’ve found a new go-to spot for dining out.

Celiac here, they only have 2 non gluten free menu items and they are sandwiches and the buns are packaged and it's not fried. So essentially this restaurant is gluten free, their fryer is never used with anything gluten and the food is amazing and the drinks are equally fantastic!

I’ve eaten at Barroco several times and always felt a little off afterwards. They’ve recently changed their menu and no longer note which items are gf, opting instead for a vague claim at the bottom of the menu that “99%” of the menu is gf. I called prior to going to confirm whether the maduros, plantains, and yucca chips were fried in a dedicated fryer (I normally get the Ropa Vieja arepa). The hostess confirmed with the kitchen that these items are cooked in the same fryer as the empanadas, rendering all fried items not safe for celiacs. The food isn’t bad, but I’m sensitive to cross-contamination and am not confident I could identify a safely gf item on the menu as it stands.

I ate at the Borroco at Crocker Park and had a pretty bad reaction. The server knew I was Celiac. I will not eat there again. :( Too risky.

First time here. We live in Canton and will definitely make a trip back up. Almost everything is gluten free!
AMAZING! Menu is majority GF and they mark items that aren’t GF. Chips and queso and arepas were soo delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Loved it. Have been there twice now. The staff knows their stuff. Would recommend the pineapple sauce for people who like sweet things, and would recommend the spicy sauce to anyone. This restuarant makes you want to keep eating even when you're full.

Best GF restaurant in Lakewood. Most of the menu is gluten-free and absolutely delicious! Go for brunch for the most bang for your buck.
This is my favorite restaurant. I wish we had one in Florida! The food is out of this world!

Excellent food, many choices! The staff is knowledgeable, too.

Love love love this place. The menu is gluten free (and celiac-safe by default) unless indicated otherwise, and the food is routinely both safe and delicious. Wonderful staff who have seen a lot of me at this point. Not to mention an awesome, fun, homey atmosphere.

Very good. Arepas were amazing. Tons of GF options to choose from.

Cannot say enough good things! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us navigate through menu items that were a little foreign to us. The food was delicious. The menu was remarkable - instead of marking gluten free items, or making a separate page or menu for it - the items that have gluten are labeled “Not GF”! 80% of the menu is gluten free. The atmosphere was fun and colorful. Did I mention the food was delicious?

Staff was fantastic, food was amazing, most celiac friendly place I’ve been too in awhile. The only minor critique I’d have is when 85% of the menu is GF friendly it would be nice to have 50% of sauces be GF as well. All in all I still give this place 5 stars for GF (I’d give 6 if it was an option). In general I just thought it was an awesome showcase of Latin American cuisine. Great job all around.
Delicious. The majority of menu is gf including fried foods!!
over 70% naturally gluten free. family owned and makes own arepas. Management seemed knowledgeable about allergen protocols as our child is not only celiac, but has life threatening allergies to all nuts, egg, and soy protein. Could offer her a number of options. Normally she would have loved it but she was "in a mood" and extremely tired from a day of sightseeing. On the other hand, my husband and I extremely enjoyed our meals and her leftovers!!! Highly recommend for those who want something a little different! Fun atmosphere, good adult drinks

Yummy! As most have said no gluten free menu but most of food doesn't have gluten! My stomach was happy!! Everything fresh and multilayered flavors! The Yuca fries were awesome. The many homemade sauces fun and varied from ketchupie, garlic, spicy/smokey, pineapple and last but not least green goodness.(my names not there's) The blueberry, strawberry fresh juice was thick, rich and a must try! It was a new cuisine experience that we will definitely come back for many times! Eduardo was helpful and fun!

Very awesome. As soon as i asked about wheat they asked me if I was celiac and walked me through everything. Their fryers are dedicated to gluten-free items and they are very knowledgeable. While they are pricey their food is worth it.

Barroco is my favorite restaurant in Cleveland! They do not have an official GF menu, but that's because almost everything they make is GF. They serve delicious Columbian cuisine and the GF options are endless! The wait staff is GF knowledgeable and the restaurant is beautiful. Great service every time. Been here a million times and always leave full and happy!
