I recently tried the pork belly tacos, and they were very flavorful! I loved the smaller corn tortillas, too. I also got the cucumber salad and some kimchee; everything was delicious. Plus, I have a gluten allergy, and I’m happy to say I didn’t have any reactions to the food I ordered. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
The lettuce leaves I ordered were wilted. I would prefer fresh ones, but overall, my dishes were yummy!
Went to the West Midtown location. Staff were super friendly and helpful. You order and pay via QR code from the table. Nearly the entire menu (except falafel and most desserts like churros, which are fried together) are GF. When you place the order, each item can be marked with specific allergies (so GFDF for me). Tacos come with corn tortillas or bib lettuce wrap. I am super sensitive to cross contamination and no reaction. Had 3 tacos (street taco size)-shrimp, pork belly, and chorizo. Also ate the guac and chips.
I absolutely DO NOT recommend Bartaco if you have Celiac! I ordered a to-go order over the phone and was asked if I had any allergies. So I explained that I HAD to order gluten-free because of an allergy. During the conversation I told the employee we had to make sure that it was gf several times. An hour later my daughter had gotten so sick from her food. And yes I'm 100% certain it was what she had eaten.
I would permanently take up residence at bartaco if I could! Another celiac friend of mine loves Bartaco so had to come and check it out (and it did not disappoint!)
I've eaten here plenty of times and have had no reaction to the food (even when I forget to check the gluten allergy box).
It is important to note there is an allergen menu online, gluten free options are not specifically marked on the menu. The servers are very knowledgable and after consistently eating here for a year I can definitively say most of what they offer other than the falafel and dessert is safe.
Would definitely recommend any celiac or gluten sensitive person check Bartaco out!
AMAZING food!! The street corn was so flavorful. I had the avocado, shrimp and pork belly tacos. It is a wonderful atmosphere and very easy to order and let them know about your allergies. There are only a few items that cannot be gluten free. This Missouri girl will be back one day!
The staff was very helpful and walked me through the menu. There are vegan options as well (the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts tacos were delicious). Really good flavors in all the food. My friends who are not gluten free enjoyed the food as much as I did.
Really disappointed to have to update our review that my daughter was severely glutened here. We still love this restaurant, but it isn’t safe for our Celiac daughter. Her reaction was severe enough to show that it was clearly not as simple as someone forgetting to change gloves. She has been screaming in pain and bleeding for days, there was a catastrophic error within their kitchen, and she is terrified. The manager was apologetic, but that won’t help my daughter for the next few weeks of suffering she will endure as we try our best to help her heal
Visited the Atlanta/Chastain location - one of 3 in Atlanta. So many items are GF here that menu actually designates what "contains gluten" instead and those are mostly desserts. You order on a piece of paper and add there is a spot for your "allergies". The sever goes over it with you. I was told when I called ahead they use an allergy stamp. Both the person on the phone and server were knowledgeable and 2 Celiacs in the family felt safe. One ordered a variety of tacos and the other a rice bowl. Place has a nice vibe and there is call ahead seating (or on the app). Good experience!
I'm a celiac and get symptoms if I invest gluten. Also, I test food in Nima gluten sensor to make sure it's gluten free. Tried 2 dishes at this restaurant and both tested gluten free. No symptoms and truly happy experience. Moreover, food was awesome and all my friend liked it. Instead of a gluten free menu, they label food items that 'contain gluten'. Pretty interesting and looks like it works too. Highly recommended place.
This place was fantastic! Almost everything on the menu is GF, save for a couple of items and desserts. The tacos are small so you can try a variety of them. Chips and salsa verde were perfectly salty with just a hint spice. The margarita was the best I've ever had! And the ambiance was superb!
Food is amazing, Baja Taco a must have along with the portobello mushroom and yummy guacamole! I am extremely allergic to gluten and have experienced no problems. Anthony is awesome, ask for him when you arrive! Craig came by to thank us for coming, very attentive and extremely friendly staff on a busy, holiday weekend. Great place!
Outstanding service, great vibe, beautiful place. Many GF options. The duck and pork belly tacos were amazing.
Amazing tacos! Write gluten free on your ticket. Dedicated fryers. You mean I can have fried fish taco!!??? Also portobello was amazing. Knowledgeable staff and cooks. Double checked everything for me.
I'm totally obsessed with this place, I eat it at the very least once a week. My favorites ( there's a lot ) 1. Oyster taco, corn tortilla 2. Baja fish taco 3. Street corn, you can get it on or off the cob. 4. Chips and salsa, it's a green tomatillo salsa, which i normally hate, but this is GOOD. 5. Tamale
Everything is labeled GF , and honestly it's like 75% GF .
Food is amazing - thoughtful and inventive. Atmosphere is beautiful. I think the prices are pretty fair given those two facts. The food menu is clearly labeled for the minority of menu items that actually have gluten. However the drinks menu isn't labeled and I opted to be cautious and asked about the mojitos, and the waitress double-checked that they were in fact gluten-free. Tons of options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. If you're up for out of the ordinary Mexican food, you'll love this place.
Wow!! Where do I even start? As a celiac, it is such a relief to go to a place where most of the menu is gluten free!!! It is usually the opposite for us. Meaning there is way less chance for cross contamination on the food I order. (Gluten filled kitchens always make me nervous!!) And the food was wonderful! I loved the fish and chicken tacos. Chips and salsa were great! As were the tamales and everything else I tried there. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. And the place itself was very chill and relaxed. I loved every part of this place. I will be coming back!
Almost the entire menu is gluten free! It was fun to sample many different tacos. My favorite was the Brussels sprout taco. Don’t worry! There are several typical tacos too. All were flavorful and fresh! I needed to eat dairy free too and there were many options! The margaritas were amazing too!
