Beer army has closed. Is now a no w bites and barrels.
While it looks like this record has closed updating my notice to say that the new poppy’s bites and barrels has many of the same dishes and protocols as beer army had. Give it a try!

Huge disappointment. Based on other reviews we chose to go on a Sunday evening. We were seated right away. As I entered I asked if they had a separate GF menu - I was told it was listed on the menu - it was not. I informed server and asked questions. I always ask about the fryer and cross contamination - server knew the answer - one fryer. When placing my order I gave two options as one had cheese from a local dairy that I was not familiar with. So, option one and option 2. Server then offered me sides of fries, onion rings, etc, even though we had just gone though my questions. About 5 minutes after placing order server returned telling me my first choice was good. After an HOUR AND A HALF wait we finally had food. Server returned once in that time to apologize it was taking so long - kitchen was backed up (not sure how because everyone who had been seated after us had eaten and left) and the the other three people in our party were served and I was told mine would be right out. Twenty (20) minutes later my burger finally appeared.
When we come visit family in New Bern, we make sure we make it here every time because we love it so much! My daughter and I have Celiac's and have never gotten sick. The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating! And they have a great cider too! 😊
I've eaten here 4 times over the past 2 months. I've had servers with a variety of experience but even the 'first night on the job' guy knew that when he heard gf he needed to take special action. They warn that for celiac it will take longer because of their precautions. Excellent!

Was so excited to take my 6 year old newly diagnosed son to have a burger after reading other reviews. Talked to staff on phone. Very knowledgeable, but the bun was AWFUL. It literally disintegrated in our hands. The side salad (only option for my six year old that he wanted) was full of Smally chopped onions so it didn't get touched either. I bet the food is great here, but not the GF bun and burger which we went for. Was really disappointed.

Went last week and had a delicious burger with a salad as my side. The staff is very knowledgable about Celiac and being gluten free. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great burger!
Awesome food!!!! Only sides were cold slaw and salad, but they have a gf burger bun. Their burgers are awesome and we even went back a second day where I got a humongous hot dog (all beef foot long) without a bun and it was amazing! They are knowledgeable about gf!
They have a gluten free bun for the burgers and sandwiches. Also the staff helped me know which items were gluten free like appetizers and sauces. Great food and unique interior setting within a historic bank.
