They have a gluten free menu, but unfortunately they have a shared fryer. As soon as I ordered the waitress told me and warned me about it. I got a burger with a lettuce bun and honestly it was so so delicious.
The service was great. Nice to have options for gluten free beers and other drinks. I would definitely come back. Just order with caution.
Waterloo location we had been to 2 times prior and had been told it was a dedicated fryer and was safe. We recently went and the waitress informed us (Thank goodness) that they'd recently had a meeting had to announce to all patrons ordering off the gf menu that there is cross contamination as the fryer was not dedicated but was still safe bc all other precautions are taken and they're gluten friendly.
The manager then came by and said there is a misconception that they have a dedicated fryer - my feeling is someone probably had a reaction.
I told the manager that there is no future reason for us to go there bc they're fryer as I'd been told was GF. He offered that they have lots of salad choices .. 🙄. With a child w celiac it was a treat and I can my own salads
Not safe for celiac but they did have excellent service and I thanked the waitress for correcting the previous info
Not a GF dedicated fryer which makes most items not safe on their menu. I am not a reactive celiac but follow a strict cross contamination protocol and I didn't have good faith that I was safe to eat here
I recently visited this location with my dad and a couple friends I was so excited as I had such a wonderful experience in Waterloo. ( to which this restaurant told me Waterloo lied about dedicated fryer)
I arrived ready to order some fried food but was shut down when they said we do not have a gf dedicated fryer. I said oh ok that sucks. Are your nachos fried waitress responded yes. So I said nothing on this menu is gluten free. She said no it’s gluten friendly ( which doesn’t help someone with celiac so who is your target audience I asked) she explained she has never seen anyone keel over from eating gf food in a non dedicated fryer. Clearly she doesn’t understand.
Moving on I decide to order the gluten free Caesar salad with chicken. I asked about the croutons she said they are gf but they are cooked in the fryer as well……
Ok one more attempt at this order the kale salad with chicken very reluctantly but to my satisfaction it was fantastic I loved it. As I got to the last ten bites I found a large piece of plastic in my salad. It stopped me in my tracks how does this happen.
I called the waitress over she immediately said she is not gonna deal with it she will get manager.
He came took my food away said wow not a nice way to get to the end of your meal. He did not offer to replace my unfinished salad, didn’t offer me another option dessert. Nothing.
Just came back and said he talked to the kitchen shook them a bit and then said accidents happen but we will remove salad from your bill. Not my meal ( 4 dollar pop, drink) just the salad to which I HADNT EVEN FINISHED!!!!!!
Will not be going back to this place ver again.
lol
Used to have a dedicated fryer, they don’t anymore. Any time I asked about something I got the standard “we can’t guarantee anything” and that yes, there probably is cross contamination of their “gluten friendly” menu items. I had asked if they’d be able to cook one of the burgers from their “gluten friendly” menu in a clean pan (IE just wash a pan before making my burger) since they said they weren’t sure if the surface where it was cooked was a cross contamination risk or not and they came back and said no, they can’t wash a pan for me. So really calls I to question what, if anything, is safe there. Basically limits you to a salad, the gf pasta, or maybe nachos. Boring for a place that used to have a dedicated fryer for fries and go above and beyond for celiacs.
After seeing the reviews on here I thought I would call in to check and maybe try it oit. On the phone I wastl told by a staff member that not only are they not safe for anyone with celiac, but no restaurant is safe for celiac and I should know better than to risk it. I did not call here to be harassed and am very disappointed with that response.
I called to speak to the chef. He told me the risks of cross contamination as they cook and use gluten in the kitchen. He told me to make a note on each item that I’m celiac and require GF.
I really enjoyed the super bowl and the pad Thai. Both were boxed and labelled with a ‘Gluten Friendly’ sticker.
I was nervous about trying this place, but everything I ordered was gluten free and I did not get sick.
