Staff was willing to change gloves, use a new scoop, and scoop from a new container. Still, there was some confusion over the noise of the shop, and they inexplicably decided we needed vegan ice cream. Still on the gf waffle cone and didn’t get sick, but minus a heart for safety over the confusion.
The candy looks amazing however the staff can not provide a list of ingredients for a lot of the truffles as they don’t make them on site. They do however have GLUTEN FREE WAFFLE CONES for the ice cream! Game changer and such a great treat for those of us that have not had a cone with ice cream in years. Line is long but the staff is fast and friendly so it moves quickly.
I am gluten and dairy free. When I went they had 4 vegan/GF options. I had the mint chocolate chip ice cream with a gluten free waffle cone. The lady who helped us didn’t change gloves, but did pick up the cone with a few napkins as to not touch it. (I’m sure she would have changed gloves if I had asked). I had no reaction and the vegan ice cream and cone was really good!
They have gluten free waffle cones! And they were good. The allergens are listed on the glass by each flavor but I wouldn't trust them because they didn't have gluten listed for a flavor that had malted milk balls in it. Above the list of allergens it listed what is in each flavor and it is pretty easy to figure out which flavors are actually gluten free. I had Joyous Almond.
We were encouraged at first because they told us they had gluten-free cones. However, when we asked which flavors of ice cream were gluten free, the servers had no idea and began to tell us that the ice creams listed as sugar free were the gluten free flavors. The potential for cross contact seemed very high. We left without ordering.
I liked the ice cream so much I came back the next day. The staff were able to tell me which ice cream flavors to avoid and which were okay. They used a napkin to pick up the gluten free ice cream cones, so their hands/gloves never touched it. I got a scoop of the KGB and a scoop of lobster ice cream the first time, both delicious. The second time, I just got lobster ice cream. For the record, yes, it has real lobster meat in the ice cream. It sounds weird, but it's delicious, like a sweet cream ice cream. I wish I could have taken a tub of lobster ice cream home with me.
Many of the staff were in training and didn’t know if certain flavors were gluten free, so they went in the back and asked. They got a new scoop and changed gloves. I always get embarrassed holding up lines to have to ask if something is gluten free, but I really appreciate them helping. They had a bunch of gluten free flavors and we realized later that the flavors are labeled on the door with the allergens.
In the past they were great, our trip today was a different experience. They have gluten free cones which my daughters were delighted about however the store said they didn't have any gluten free ice cream. We asked, "why would you have Gluten free cones without gluten free ice cream?" The employees response was, "We don't have Gluten free ice cream." I'm disappointed that they wouldn't go an extra step to accommodate people who have celiac.
