Gluten free items are marked “AGF” on the menu and there is a lot to choose from. Sandwiches can be had on a gluten free roll or on a salad. They also have a good selection of gluten free beer and ciders. More than most restaurants.
Our server was celiac, which turned out to be good news for me. I ordered the burnt ends, marked AGF, but she later came back and said they use the shared fryer to crisp the meat before serving and would be cross contaminated. I changed to brisket which was pretty good. I was glad she caught this, although I’m not sure why burnt ends are being fried. Overall, good was good, lots of options for both food and drinks, but service was a little slow.
Bison steak tips are great. Staff always willing to check to make sure item is ok. Eaten here several times. I’m not celiac, just gluten and dairy sensitive.
So many gf options. All the BBQ rubs and sauces are gf as are the majority of the sides. They also have gluten free rolls for any sandwiches or burgers. Several "gluten removed" beers and 5 different choices for cider. Happy to accommodate allergies and other preferences. The owner is gluten free and one of the bartenders is celiac so the staff is fairly knowledgeable. The down side is that the fryer is cross contaminated. The grill is used for toasting regular rolls, but they will scrape it down. If you're more comfortable, they will cook any food in foil or in the back to avoid any cross contamination.
Yes
Great food great service
The staff really knew the gf deal, and listed the items that were gf and told me how they would prep items to avoid cross contamination- bottom line, great BBQ with decent sides.
I used to be a regular visitor to Bison before I was diagnosed as celiac, great food. When u went back a couple of months ago I asked for the GF menu as listed on their website and was told by the hostess all the food was listed on their menu (it's not) I spoke to the waitress and explained the issue and thought I had ordered very carefully; salmon, mashed potatoes & coleslaw but bottom line I got very sick. Not sure if it was a cross contamination issue from the grill or a filler in their mashed potato. I like Bison but I think I will have to stick to going for a glass of cider and leave the food alone.
They don't have a GF menu. The waitress said the owner has a Gluten Sensitivity and that they can accommodate someone avoiding gluten.
I ordered the pulled pork w/o bun and my daughter had the hot dog (it was pretty big) w/o bun. She didn't like it but it tasted like a regular hot dog to me...
They said that the buns are cooked on the same grill so I can't recommend this place for Celiacs.
Looks like they had at least 1 kind of GF Hard Cider but I did not try it.
It's hard to give a rating since the food was good but I chose 3 stars since this is a Gluten Free perspective and not yelp.
Very knowledgable and accommodating with delicious food!
