We had a great experience here. There is no separate gluten free menu or identification of gluten free items on the main menu however our server was knowledgeable about which items could be made gluten free and confirmed with the kitchen that the gluten free items are made in a separate area. Chips are in a dedicated fryer next to the area where gluten-free items are prepared to avoid cross contamination. Had two braised short rib tacos with rice and black beans which was delicious. Confirmed with our server the dish was gluten free once it was brought out. Unprompted, she got the manager to come by our table where he pleasantly explained kitchen practices to ensure a safe gluten-free meal - just to alleviate any concerns. Food was great and service was fantastic. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in the Phoenix area.
I made a reservation and left a comment indicating I had celiac and the staff said they would let our sever know. They were so kind and so helpful!
Chips are cooked in a dedicated fryer and most items can be modified to be gluten free.
Can’t stress enough how great the staff was with all my questions and reassuring everything would be cooked separately.
Super tasty Mexican food, tacos are their signature food, we had traditional carnitas and prawn tacos, both were super good.. You can choose between corn or wheat flour, the server seemed to be aware, although no gf menu. Mango & shrimp ceviche is to die for, awesome aqua Fresca. Sweet corn Tamales is not my thing, but it was not bad. The dip served with nachos was amazing and they offered generous portion of freshly made nachos
Atmosphere is lovely! Chips, rice, and beans were delicious and definitely gf. There’s a ton of other stuff on the menu that is supposedly gf, but we didn’t want to take a chance because nothing is labeled “gf.” So you kind of have to rely on a knowledgeable waitstaff, which doesn’t always pan out for us. If they labeled the menu, I would feel so much more confident. That being said, my daughter had the chips, rice, and beans, and didn’t get sick. The waitstaff said the chips are in a separate fryer.
What a wonderful experience. We made reservations using Open Table where I’m identified as gf. We were greeted by the hostess who immediately asked about my needs. It made me comfortable from the start. The waiter was very knowledgeable. Told me chips were cooked in a separate fryer and they were delicious. He told me they could alter some of the menu items to be gf but I played it safe and had carne asada soft tacos which were great. Great downtown vibe. Will definitely go back.
We visited last week. My husband follows Celiac diet. The waitress was very accommodating, double checking the chips safety, aware of risk of cross contamination, even the person directing us to the table was very aware of gluten allergy and precautions. No symptoms at all after eating!
Met the chef for the day he assured me they handle the food using trained protocols and he made me feel good about eating there.
I had the pork chili Verde enchiladas with back beans and rice. I also had chips, salsa and queso dip. I tested all with NIMA.
We will definitely be going back again! So dang good!
Very good experience! Staff was friendly and aware of allergies. The best strawberry margaritas! I had shrimp tacos and they were delicious, and no symptoms afterwards. Only minus that I could think of is that it was quite noisy out there, but that’s a minor detail when the food is so good! :)
Came for dinner during happy hour and it was an amazing experience. Margaritas and some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Their sangria is filled with fresh fruit and is delicious. Server was very knowledgeable, both about gluten and dairy. Rice is cooked with butter, and other than that it is easy to figure out what can be eaten. Wish we lived closer!
Great experience! Gluten free chips from a separate fryer. Server was extremely knowledgeable and able to give recommendations for what would be 1. The most safe and 2. The most delicious.
We got the mango shrimp ceviche, queso and split an order of the mahi tacos and shrimp tacos. Could not have been happier with our meal.
Also the frozen grapefruit paloma was sooooo good and a rec from our server.
Was really hopeful on previous reviews, but our waitress had an attitude. Told us nothing was gluten free (shared fryer) then checked with someone else at the bar right in front of us and said she could enter it in the system, but I was not confident in anything. Ended up having a bowl and not the chips.
I felt safe here! The host, server, and manager were all helpful and knowledgeable and gluten and cross contact. The chips are safe, the tacos were so dang delicious, and the service was amazing. I waited a day to make sure I still feel good, and I feel great today as well. So I feel like I was served safely with no cross contact.
I’ve gone here twice now for dinner and haven’t had any issues. The first night I ordered the pork tacos, really good! I told the waitress I had a gluten allergy when ordering, she just paused, thought about it, and said “ok”. The second time I had the pork enchiladas, also good, but the tacos were much better. Corn tortillas for both. The blood orange and pomegranate frozen margarita was delicious. I had a glass that was super messy and sticky on the outside and I asked for an additional napkin just to clean it up. The ended up making me a whole new drink! Great food, nice atmosphere and super awesome staff. Would go back. Nothing marked “gf” on the menu.
