They took great care of my pizza until it got to the lady who cut it. She had the roller slide all over the counter full of crumbs from the regular pizzas. I told her that she has just inadvertently contaminated my pizza and she gave me an attitude.

This was a great experience for me. They took great caution for Gluten Free by also you have to ask them to change their pizza cutter for the pizza but other than that definitely recommend Blaze Pizza.

Best gluten free crust I’ve ever had... price is very good .. we just moved here and I’ve already made it one of my go to restaurants..

Blaze does a great job accommodating to gf needs. They do not have a dedicated prep area, but they do have specific mats, cutters, etc for gluten allergies. I would still be cautious with celiacs but know two people with celiacs who can eat there and are yet to have issues. One of the best gluten free pizzas I've had so far!

Best gluten free pizza I've had, and I've tried a lot! Plenty of topping options, but there isn't a dedicated assembly or cooking area in my experience. They put the pizza on it's own cooking sheet and change their gloves, but the toppings they take from are also touched by gloves that have touched the regular pizza. You also have to watch them carefully because they are not careful about our pizza not touching other pizzas. It is not celiac friendly, but I have yet to get sick and eat here regularly.

They use the same sauce/spoon for the gluten free pizza as they do For the wheat crust. When my husband and i went they put his sauce on his pizza spread it around with the spoon on the crust. Then did the same thing to mine with while using the same sauce and spoon. I asked for a gluten free crust and then ended up getting grabbing a crust from from the same area where my husbands crust was. I asked about it being gluten free and she had to go back to another area to grab the gluten free crust. The gluten free crust is no sealed and really separate from the flour crusts. They are in the same open area. Also the pizzas go in the same fire brick oven and your pizza is right next to a flour pizza. They also do not change pizza cutters (at least when I was there they didn't) and cut the gluten free pizza with the same cutter and the flour pizza. None of them did glove changes

My pizza was mishandled/contaminated ,gloves were not changed and then said he did everything right. I have Celiacs and had eaten there before but thankfully watched before getting sick so I must say NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. Gave it a second chance 04/18. Employee looked upset at dealing with CD. He seemed to go out of way to contaminate it. He was Happy when I canceled order. He had a horrible attitude. Might be good pizza but they don’t try to accommodate CD

They offer a gluten free pizza crust. Cross contamination likely, so not celiac friendly. They do ask if you would like them to change their gloves down the line, and use separate mats for pressing the dough. Pick all of your own toppings. Thin crust pizza but great flavor and quick.

The staff was very friendly. This is a pizza line where you tell staff what toppings to add. Staff were knowledgeable and made glove changes as well as used dedicated pizza cutters for GF pizzas. There is still possibility of cross contamination if the GF pizza slips off the mat in the shared oven or from the sauce scoop used on all pizzas. It was about as safe as it could be for the type of setup of this restaurant. I did not have a reaction, and my crust was tasty.

When I went, there was flour all over the place. It was on the counters, the cash register, everywhere! They have gf crust in the back, but when I ordered, she used the same gloves that touched all the floury counters to hold my pan. I cancelled our orders. They are clueless. The older dude who was firing pizzas was a jerk.

Although they prepared my pizza in the back area away from the other ingredients, the pizza cutter station was not adequately prepared. The same area was used to cut my pizza, although with a separate cutter, however their was too much cross contamination and I became very sick.

Loved it! They ask whether your gluten-free is a preference or an allergy, and as I just have a sensitivity I opted for preference. They have a separate pizza press for gluten-free dough, and they cook it on a special pizza board. They will change gloves as well if needed. The pizza is very good and I love coming here knowing that I can have a solid gluten-free, dairy-free meal!

This is one of the gluten sensitive places I've ever visited. They have gluten free dough which is prepared using separate equipment than the standard dough. When placing your order they explicitly ask if you'd like a glove change to prevent cross contamination from previous orders. They will assign one person to prepare the order rather than the traditional assembly line this way no one without the new gloves is helping you. Prior to placement in the oven (which is used with the other orders), they will set the GF order on a great resistant pad (I don't know the material). This provides a buffer between the GF pizza and the otherwise cross contaminated oven surface. After cooking it is record from said pad with dedicated GF serving utensils before being given to the customer. Good good and very considerate workers!

Normally dont write restaurant reviews, but I was so impressed by Blaze! Its an assembly line style pizza place- they took GF seriously from the beginning, preparing it on a separate silicone mat, changing gloves, alerting me of any ingredients that would have touched gluten pizzas (sauce brush), and using a dedicated cutter and tongs. (Oh and it was delicious!!) Highly recommend!

Definitely not celiac friendly, but for those who are simply intolerant and aren’t as concerned about cross-contamination, this is a good tasty option for a crispy thin crust (non-Udi’s) pizza. They do offer to change gloves, and the crust is placed on a special mat of some sort before going in the oven. But there’s a lot of contamination with the handling of the toppings.

Sadly had a terrible experience at this blaze pizza. They attempted to make me a gluten free pizza 3 times and each time cross contaminating the pizza in front of me. Using the wrong sauce, cutting the pizza with the wrong utensils, having another pizza land on top of my pizza. After the 3rd time I gave up and just asked for a refund. I have previously had good experiences at other Blazes but have not had the urge to trust trying them again. Please please watch your pizza at all times to make sure mistakes are not made.

I told them gluten free and they changed their gloves for me, but there is a sign right where you order telling you that GF dough is made on the same equipment. I decided to give it a chance despite the sign because my sister eats at another location and never gets sick. The pizza is cooked on some kind of rubber sheet to prevent cross contamination in the oven, which is good...but I'm so sick now (a few hours later) I can't believe it. I don't recommend this place if you're celiac or cannot handle cross contamination!

I know that there is cross-contamination possibility in large pizza-oven restaurants, but I did not get sick, so for ME that is what counts I had the Best GF pizza here - maybe my best ever, including what I make at home (have tried so many recipes! ). They flatten GF DOUGH at Blaze, instead of using a frozen crist. What a difference ! First of all, I could pick up a slice of pizza and it came free, didn't have to be sawed away from the rest of the pie. The middle/ tip of the slice was cooked! not gooey. Best of all, the crust edge actually was crisp and made a wonderful delicate "crunch" sound when I bit through it.I had forgotten that pizza crust could do that. I complimented and thanked the manager. I know they cannot guarantee a GF result, with all the wheat dough around, hence 4 stars - for others to keep in mind. But for me, it was a 5.

Blaze Pizza in Des Moines has changed their practices, and now can accommodate gluten-free dietary needs. The dough is kept on a red mat throughout the process. Their is a dedicated gluten-free marinara sauce and pizza cutter. All of the meats and cheeses are gluten free except for the meatballs. Can’t beat $11 for unlimited toppings. I love Blaze!!

Awesome gluten-free pizza. We have delegated GF utensils and cooking space for the oven. Staff is knowledgeable, change gloves, and did an overall awesome job. Blaze is a pizza place, but they do make their own gluten-free dough. There is always a chance of cross-contamination, however they use a low dust flower when they make their other crusts. So they are going out of their way to limit cross-contamination. I’ll be eating at five different locations and never had a problem. Come check out this place it’s super good

The pizza is really good, and pretty well-priced for gluten free, let alone a pizza. My only complaint is that there wasn't a whole lot of cheese on it, and the toppings were kind of spread thin. I used to work in a pizza joint, so I know from experience they could've done a lot better on that, lol.

Staff was knowledgeable about Celiacs. When we arrived we asked to speak to a manager. We were told to tell them at the counter that it was Celiacs and gluten free. Standard procedure is to change gloves, put it on a special mat for the oven, and they have dedicated utensils. But they will also ask you (or you can ask them) to take the sauces and toppings from new containers in the bottom covered cabinets rather than the regular toppings line. Highly recommend doing this! You can also watch the process the whole way to make sure they take your toppings from the right place and don't put it in contaminated areas. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I'm a sensitive celiac and I had 2 pizzas there and did not get sick at all. They take great care as long as you take the time to talk them through all of your allergy needs. Great homemade gf crust too! Can't wait to go back. Update- I’ve gone back twice more since my original visit. You need to be VERY clear with them about instructions, but if you are, the experience is great. I’ve had no issues.

Not at all celiac friendly. They use the same equipment for gluten free pizzas as the regular dough. Direct quote from their website, "How gluten-free is it? If you are simply looking to reduce the amount of gluten in your diet and don’t want to give up on pizza..." and "we use the same oven and dough press for both gluten-free and standard dough, so there is a good chance of some cross-contact in our restaurants."

Great thin&crispy GF crust and fresh toppings. Esp love their fresh mozzarella. I feel secure w/Dedicated: GF dough press, GF base tomato sauces, GF baking pan, & they change gloves. I've eaten here 10+ times, never got sick. I have severe Gluten Intolerance. Though there are 2 minor risks for cross-contamination bc shared Fire Oven (if gluten floats?) and the Toppings (finger tips of gloves sometimes touch the gluten dough as spread ingredients then they reach into next ingredient container). It's so delicious, I'm glad I took the risk.
