I eat there so often and never have an issue. I know it used to be not as safe, but managers changed and now I never have a problem. They change gloves, wash hands, get new utensils, make sure those utensils don’t touch the other ones, etc. Honestly they’re pretty much the only place in cookeville that I 100% trust other than P Dilly’s. Even the newer people will go find someone to ask if I tell them I have a gluten allergy (which I say even though I’m celiac).

The food here is great, but a change (laziness) in their food handling practices have made it so that I get sick from CC every visit. I discussed it with the owner, but nothing changed. I no longer eat there.

The staff is awesome and the gluten free procedure is amazing, but the overall quality and taste of the food is cardboard and dull.

More cautious than Jason's Deli - that's saying a lot!
Celiac friendly. Just let them know your Celiac before you order. They get clean utincles. pull from the fridge. Food is good. I had a taco salad.
Ordered gluten free taco salad. They changed gloves, got a clean serving spoon wrapped in paper towel as they moved they assembly, pull ingredients from fresh containers in frig. I am not celiac but choose gluten free. So a little cross contamination would have been ok but I did not want to interfere with their process. Great job Blue Coast and its staff in Cookeville TN. Food was fresh and tasty! Will never go to Taco Bell again!

They are not careful. Most things have a possible chance of cross contamination. Service unfriendly.
All main menu items are gluten free! Changed gloves when handling my food.

Fantastic find! Ashlee made my chicken tortilla soup - she gets it!! Her mom has Celiac I think so she was so careful. Changed gloves and washed her hands without me asking but also got all my toppings from dedicated containers to avoid cross contamination.
Great food and I can feel confident I will be safe!!

its a nice place and their trying but their just not celiac friendly... after eating here I was extremely sick!

They are awesome! Everything they have is gluten free - except their fish and their flour tortillas (they have corn as a great alternative) . Their chips are also corn based. If you are super sensitive, just be aware that the corn tortillas are made in the same facility as flour tortillas, so there is a possibility of cross-contamination before they even reach the store. This is a California Baja-Style food which is all FRESHLY made right in the kitchen. Homemade salsas (the pineapple is my favorite), homemade dressings, meat is never frozen and is marinated overnight. Their beans are not cooked with meat, so there are great vegan and vegetarian options. Lots of fresh veggies to cover everything with. It's great because you build what you want the way you want it. If you let them know that you are gluten free, they will change their gloves, one person goes down the entire line with you so as not to cross-contaminate. Great staff, deliciously healthy food, fun atmosphere. WOW! Gotta stop in and try it out! You'll love it.

The staff has been trained and large gluten free menu.
Went there a few months ago to get dinner. I observed the employee that assembled the woman's order in front of me. She ordered some kind of wrap because she grabbed a flour tortilla. As she went down the line, she requested rice on it. However, instead of the employee using the ladle that was already in the rice, she proceed to go in with gloved hands that had touched the flour tortilla, to grab the rice instead. I immediately walked out and left. If you have Celiac (which I do), I would not risk it. Too much cross-contamination.

They're great about getting toppings from underneath and changing gloves. Sad to no longer enjoy the fried fish tacos but love that I can still eat here-its cheap, quick and an easy place to dine with others.

Was super excited to try this for lunch, sadly after a few bites I got very sick. The people there were unsure what was gluten free

This particular location of Blue Coast is great about gluten free. This location (and as far as I know, only this location) even has a dedicated fryer for gluten-free chips. They will pull what you want from underneath the counter rather than risking the regular line if you specify gluten-free. They also change gloves and everything. I always ask for mine in a to-go box so I don’t risk commonly used plates and such. But I will say some people at this location even start switching gloves when they see me walk in the door 😂

Not safe at all. I asked for tacos and the server grabbed flour tortillas, so I corrected her and said it was an allergy. Without changing her gloves she grabbed the corn tortillas and put them down right where the flour ones had been on the counter. One of the corn tortillas overlapped with a flour tortilla from another person’s order. Needless to say, my non-GF hubby got double the dinner.
