I told the person behind the counter I have two people with me with celiac and verified that the two breakfast options breakfast tacos and breakfast hash) labeled gf on the menu were safe. However, after I placed the order, the cook came to our table and explained that there is cross contamination (same grill, surfaces) and the items are not safe for celiac. He was extremely friendly, apologetic and kind. I asked about the gf cookies and pastries in the display case and he verified those are made in a clean kitchen. He let me cut to the front of the line to order gf coffee cake, gf orange loaf, and two gf cookies. He also said their Poet’s Bowl (beans and rice) is gf, and he could also offer gf yogurt with honey and apples. He was very helpful and considerate.
Also, the barista at the counter said they have gf bread but it’s sliced on the same surface as the rest of their bread.
I went here for breakfast. I got the scrambled eggs with toast, it was delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and said most of their food can be made gluten free (by changing the bread), so lots of options for breakfast. Treat wise, the only option was the coffee cake.
I LOVE the Blue Scorcher. That said, when I visited this weekend they didn’t have any GF baked goods at all. In the past I’ve been able to get GF banana bread or scones. They did have a breakfast taco that was GF. You’d prob be better going elsewhere in Astoria (like the Green Door Cafe or 14th St Cafe)
Sour cream gluten free blueberry muffins and a scrumptious, healthful breakfast!
Our favorite place for lunch. They make there own GF bread and some GF baked goods. they are super great.
