They have a separate gf menu that you don't see online but it's basically salt & pepper fish, shrimp (not in a bad way - the shrimp was good!). They also have blackened salmon which was good. The meals can't eth rice, corn and salad. I called ahead and they were helpful with ordering. Also, the ranch dressing with the salad is now gf. At the end of the day this is tourist food, but it worked for our needs today.
Great experience here tonight. We wanted seafood, preferably something easy, fresh, and relatively quick. This was the perfect fit. Order at the counter, and they bring it to you. Food was hot and delicious. It's small and tucked back, has a pretty small menu, but don't miss this fantastic seafood option in the busy, fun Hilton Waikiki Village. They have a few select items on their gluten free menu, but a good variety. And the prices are reasonable for the area. Definitely recommend.
A wonderful little find in the Hilton Hawaiian Waikiki complex. Delicious food with a gluten free menu. The gluten free items don’t have special sauces, but the delicious seafood doesn’t need any. I was able to taste both the salt and pepper ahi tuna and the salt and pepper shrimp. Both delicious. The shrimp were large, probably 16-20/pound.
ate here for my first dinner in honolulu, got the blackened salmon. they have a list of items that are GF, they prepare them in separate pans (grilled items are not safe!). the kitchen is small and no other dedicated space, so not the best for CC risk. i did not eat the salad it comes with as another review said their ranch wasn’t GF and i forgot to ask, but the rice, corn, and salmon were excellent. did not get sick!!
Update: We ate a second time and our experience was more enlightening. My steak had grill marks (was not cooked in a pan like they said it would be). Also, the salads we got did not have ranch. We asked and the waiter said their ranch had gluten in it. This is odd since we were told a few days prior it was GF. To add insult to injury the server coldly commented in passing “as long as no one dies we’re all good.” Two thumbs down.
The lady taking orders was not aware of GF options but asked the kitchen who said that the Teriyaki and Bronzed glazes were the only 2 “celiac friendly”. I’m not sure that they notified the kitchen that my dish was GF or that they used separate pans. I ordered a Bronzed Glazed Red Snapper on a salad with ranch. I would be hesitant to eat here unless that chef mentioned in other comments is here - he was not when I was here.
Very positive experience. No GF items on the menu but the gentleman taking orders was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and was able to provide a tasty GF shrimp dinner for me. No after effects either which is always a relief. Prices are on the high side but not unexpected. Service was very attentive and friendly. Did not wait long for our meals. Would give 5 stars if there were a separate GF menu or GF items
This is just a quick serve place at the food court at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Not much on the menu for GF (almost everything dredged in flour), but I talked with Jason the chef & he made me a special meal!! He was VERY knowledgeable and accommodating. Had sauted garlic shrimp (cooked in a separate pan), white rice, green salad w/ranch, & corn topped with an edible flour. It was a big meal & delicious. None of the other staff knew what gluten was so talk to them.
It wasn't what I expected. You order at the counter and then wait 15-30 mind for your food in a box.
I thought seafood would be a good choice for a GF meal, but it turns out they use flour in their sauce. They also do NOT have a dedicated fryer for their fries. I ordered scallops with a side of shrimp, they charge $1.75 per very tiny shrimp. The shrimp and scallops were very salty, but at least they were not over cooked.
Service was fair at best, prices are on the touristy side.
Great portions and good food. However, one of the days I went I had a perfectly cooked fatty steak. Another day, I had a steak with absolutely zero fat that was over cooked. The food still tasted good but just not that consistent in its preparation.
Several gluten-free items on menu and staff claimed that they can prepare GF safe for allergy. However, definitely not safe. Supposedly "gluten-free" tacos come with tortilla chips that are made in a fryer with gluten-containing items. Even after asking specifically about that and having them omit the chips, I still got glutened. Sick for 36 hrs. Avoid!
