There were several gluten free options available. I had a tasty wrap with chicken , butternut squash, celery etc. and took home a salad with shrimp, potatoes and mushrooms. Probably would have been better to eat the salad freshly served but it was okay. There are several other options on the menu that sound very good.
A hidden gem! My husband and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast today. I called ahead to make sure my food could be prepared safely gluten free. The manager assured me they took Celiac Disease very seriously. Their menu was very extensive. I had a lot of choices. I ordered the French Toast. They prepared it in a separate pan and used a separate egg dip. My husband ordered blueberry pancakes (regular). He said they were delicious. We both look forward to coming back again.
I have been at this establishment several times already this year because I feel safe eating here. Not only is the food on point and delicious! The staff is hardworking and with a friendly smile. I was told that Celiac's is taken very seriously here. Also, they have a GF fryer and GF sauces to accommodate, along with fully GF menu items too choose from. Located in the downtown district. Why not enjoy a stroll through the shops after a fine meal.
Great food. Great service. Celiac safe (I had no reaction and I’m highly sensitive to gluten). Highly recommend. I had buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and fries for dinner and we went back a couple days later for breakfast and I had blueberry pancakes and bacon. So, so good. Can’t wait to go back again!
Wow. The food is amazing. Many items on thecmenu can be made or are gluten free. Everything we tried was delicious. I'm only sad that I live an hour and a half away! I'd eat here all the time if I lived closer.
This place is out of this world. Dedicated fryers so no matter what you’re safe. Gf bread, bagels, pancakes, French toast etc. got fried chicken sandwich with egg, candied bacon and maple sauce. I’m still in heaven.
Update: I could live here. Carissa is the best waitress!
Got the salmon platter for lunch. Tasted great! Waitress assured me that the crispy potatoes are fried in a GF fryer only with other potatoes/fries. My girlfriend got the mushroom risotto so I tasted some of that too. I didn’t have any reaction afterwards. She felt a bit sick later though…might avoid the risotto to be safe. Will come back if I’m in the area!
This is my go to for a good sandwich. They have other good gluten free items on offer (I love the risotto and a lot of the appetisers and they have gluten free fried chicken), but it is so rare to have the option for creative and good sandwiches around here. I’ve never had a problem in the two years I’ve been eating here.
We have always looked at BluePlate as a "go to" for some great GF options, especially the Reubens and fries. Never a problem. Last Sunday ordered the pancakes off the specials menu as they were clearly listed with a GF option. Nothing else ordered. Was clear with server identifying as a Celiac and need for GF at beginning of order, and at end of order, and when food was delivered to table. The pancakes were clearly contaminated as the rest of the day was spent dealing with the adverse reactions. Sorry to have to write the review as we wrestle with ever returning there.
I’ll start with the service: EXCELLENT. Every person we encountered was sweet and accommodating. Food: FABULOUS! The is the second time I’ve been to Blue Plate. They are very reassuring about their safety practices (sensitive celiac) and were very helpful in the meal selections. Personally, I didn’t care too much for the French toast (my first time there) because unless you use fresh, dense gf bread, it just tastes like stale bread with syrup. It wasn’t horrible by any means, but I’m picky about gf bread and it was fairly dry. THIS TIME, I ordered the eggs Benedict and OH MY GOODNESS.....first time having hollandaise sauce (so they put it on the side) and this entire dish did NOT disappoint!! I’m still full hours after eating. They serve a gf version one of three ways: over toast (and I subbed sausage for the ham), a bagel, or no bread at all. Toast was decent, but not my fav, but honestly too much other food to even worry about the bread. Great stop and worth a 35 minute drive!
They recently reopened and are just as terrific as in my previous review! I have Celiac and it is always awesome to find a restaurant that takes the right precautions! The soup and burger were great. I split fries with my non- Celiac husband (I just had to have a few) and the were terrific. I will definitely return. Thank you!
Blue Plate is my favorite place to go for breakfast! The gf toast and eggs are amazing as well as the country atmosphere :) Still hoping that someday they make their fancy pancakes gf
Awesome spot, great choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fortunate to have a safe place close to home. Very knowledgeable staff and chef. I have never had an issue and eat there 1-2 times a month.
Generally pleased with my meal. Minus one star because GF roll was slightly stale and fries were cooked in old greese. it wss so nice being to order a sandwich on GF bread in this area, i will definitely be back.
Blue plate is the best!!!! I have a gluten free cheesesteak every other week and their sides are gluten free as well. Love this place :)
Love this for gluten free options! (I never verified for celiac) but there are many items on menu and meals are always fresh & easily identifiable.
We had an excellent experience today! The menu was clearly marked and most dishes or sandwiches could be made on gluten free bread or wraps. The parmesan crusted grilled cheese was amazing, and it was great to be able to eat fries. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised to see "!!gluten free!!" written under each gf item that we ordered. We will definitely be back soon!
Several GF options. Chef and staff are educated and knowledgeable. Delicious options.
