We had an outstanding meal here last night . When you walk in it is very cozy like a log cabin , the food is delicious. My husband had theMaine halibut , sautéed spinach , sticky rice and a carrot ginger sauce . He used not gf but this dish was . I am strict celiac. I had the gf pan seared scallop risotto, pea puree ,bacon crumbles . It was amazing . This place is famous for their risotto and rightly so . The server was very knowledgeable about celiac and alerted the kitchen even though we both ordered gf items . I felt very safe and had no issues . I highly recommend this restaurant!
While the menu had gluten free options, they definitely are not gluten free.
The Jamaican Curried Muscles that were listed as gluten free and made no mention of bread, came out with 3 large pieces of toasted bread piled on top.
The GF seared tuna came out with tempura that gave me pause to eat.
If you eat here to be GF, don't go by the menu and make sure to say something to your server
I'm not exaggerating when I say that the seafood risotto I had here was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. It was just what I needed after a cold day out on the water. It's one of the priciest items on the menu, but worth every penny!
This restaurant was amazing. They serve lunch upstairs and my father who is handicapped is traveling with us. They let us sit in the main floor for lunch even though this is not done. Menu is marked gluten free and vegan. I had the tapas shrimp and grits which was amazing. They also have a gluten-free clam chowder. The servers were great!
We were able to order Lobster without butter. Limited dairy free options, but gluten-free is well marked.
Extensive gluten free options, lots of local seafood offerings. Our table had the clam chowder, lobster stew and lobster risotto. All gluten free options and all terrific . If you are up for stairs, going to the rooftop bar for food and drinks gives you a great view of the harbor as well.
Best experience in Boothbay!!! We ate here twice in 3 days. They were exceptional with their Celiac knowledge. My daughter is a highly sensitive Celiac and did great both times. She wanted a root beer which was locally made. They called the maker to check on the gluten status since it was not on their website.
More than half the menu was GF! Great appetizers, entrees, and even a flourless chocolate torte for dessert! Everything was clearly marked on the menu and the staff was knowledgeable. Great views from the upper deck on the third floor. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a good place for gf!
Quite a few gluten free options noted on menu. Knowledgeable waitstaff. Food was good, not great.
