My celiac husband had a wonderful experience at Bob’s steak house. When I made the online reservation I noted my husband was celiac and the waitress was aware when she waited on us. She was knowledgeable and helpful on our menu choices . On the table was a beautiful arrangement of peppers and cucumbers in a brine. They were delicious and looked pretty in the apothecary jar on the table. He had salmon which was perfectly prepared and seasoned with a sweet potato and a gigantic carrot that was glazed with oranges. I asked for the creamed spinach as a side and they omitted the topping for him. He ate everything and even shared my crème brûlée (which they assured was safe for him). He did not get sick and loved every bite. We’re going back.
The restaurant is not gluten free knowledgeable - the 1st waitress knew about their Texas heritage though, haven't seen her since. Got glutened my Oct 24 visit - tried a different salad since no more spinach salads and didn't look at the ingredients (dark room). Midway into my steak to the bathroom I went. I already told the young red faced pregnant waitress I was gluten free.
Earlier visit: Ordered the prime Ribeye medium rare plus. It arrived totality gray and sagging in the middle with no juice and when I cut into it no juices escaped. Waitress maintained that they only serve freshly delivered steaks the one I was served was most likely expired or over microwaved hence the lack of any taste.
Disappointing that "the best steak restaurant on Amelia Island" serves rotten steaks. It looked horrible and thin but then again they seated us in an extremely dimlit area.
1.5 yrs later: Ask for Gordon and he'll take care of you! He selects fresh cuts; although they just changed their baked potato cheese, bacon, sour cream additions to be held by the servers at all times 😟
Excellent fine dining experience. They were very accommodating with gf options.
