We stayed in Williamsburg for several days and we ate here every night. Why? Because Bonefish is reliably good at keeping this celiac safe and I was not willing to eat somewhere new to "experiment" and get sick while on vacation. That would not be fun. One night, I had the filet with whipped potatoes and it was very good, as always. The next night, I had the chilean sea bass. Excellent with the mango salsa and jasmine rice. The third time, I tried the house salad and the lily's chicken (I believe that is the name of the dish) and we had to wait over half an hour for it to arrive. We were seated at the bar. It was just so-so, truth be told. The portions are getting smaller at the Bonefish Grills, I have noticed and the drinks are getting even smaller. Bummer. For the price we pay for these entrees, I'd like to see them stop the "paring down" practices. Not a typical Bonefish Grill (from my experience)--the wait time for the food was long (and it was not even busy), although the servers were all very nice!
They do make the bang bang shrimp gluten free..however it is not in a gluten free fryer..Boo Bonefish! You used to be my favorite restaurant..will never go back. Waitress knew I was gluten free, said bang bang shrimp could now be done gluten free..only to come back and tell me after half had been eaten they were not made in GF fryer. Spent the next 3 days very sick!
One if my all-time favorite places to eat where I don't get sick from something. love their happy hour and their Sunday brunch options!
I always wait a day or two before writing a review. We went on Tuesday. Waitress was knowledgeable and answered my cross contamination concerns. I was told GF food is prepared separately and the kitchen staff changes gloves and uses new utensils and pans. Great meal!! Definitely recommend!
The servers and managers talk a good game about GF safety. The kitchen is another story. The broccoli arrived with bits of pasta on it. They cook the broccoli in the pasta water. It makes me angry to think about how I've ordered broccoli every time I've dined at Bonefish Grill. GF safety talk is cheap when the kitchen isn't trained.
This was WONDERFUL!! Had steak, lobster, shrimp and flourless brownie. No reactions. I called and asked the usual safety questions for my severely celiac kiddo. They have a system that alerts all staff of "allergies" so that protocols for changing gloves and cook ware are followed. The host had the very best answers for my safety questions...and everyone understood Celiac precautions.
We've been a couple times. This last time my chicken was raw and I sent it back. They delivered my same plate back to me 5 minutes later. It was so quick I asked about cross contamination and they had no idea it was for someone with celiac. It didn't look any more cooked than when I first got it.
Lots of choices on GF menu. I had scallops and shrimp with a Tito vodka martini Only negative was it was overly air conditioned.
The gluten-free/sensitive options are great. The brownie is to die for- been trying to figure out how to make it! They have a separate GF menu, but what is great is that most of the items on the GF menu are also offered as is on the regular menu- which means I'm not getting a tasteless "GF version" of a regular dish.
I stressed the importance of being gf and having celiac disease. The server said no problem but I really don't think she was paying attention. She was not very personable at all. Food was ok. Unfortunately, I was severely sick within 4 hours. I have never had a problem at any Bonefish before!
Been to multiple bonefish grills in the country. This one was great as well. They have a separate gf menu. I prefer the yummy Chilean sea bass. That dish is a bit pricey but tasty. Bonefish always does well. Mashed potatoes and green beans as my sides but there r other options. Gf brownie and Icecream for dessert was super yummy as well.
Ate here for the second time since diagnosis but not at same exact location. they have a GF menu and I told the server I have celiac and had to have GF. He said he would put a note to keep me safe and that phrase made me feel he got it. I ordered the same meal, Lily's chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. He said the broccoli was steamed in its own bag. the food here is delicious and you can tell it's better quality. I'll be back.
Had sirloin, whipped potatoes, green beans- food was average. Took flourless brownie/ice cream home and ate it 1/2 of brownie (all of ice cream) that evening and 2nd half the next evening. It was delicious - however must have been glutened by the brownie because endured symptoms BOTH nights.
Have eaten here a few times with my daughter. She loves the mussels in white wine sauce and has not had a negative reaction from eating there. Everyone in our party loves their food as well.
