Love the concept of this place and variety of options, the staff is great as well. Unfortunately, despite being dedicated GF, I’ve reacted twice now after eating from here- not my typical glutened symptoms, so I thought it might be a fluke, but tried it again and reacted almost immediately. Considering the other recent reviews, might be something they’re not aware of in the ingredients/supply.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry to hear you've had reactions at our restaurant. I want to clarify a few things on our processes/ingredients: We use dedicated gluten-free ingredients and make all of our food in our own stall to avoid any cross contamination. It is important to note that we are in a food stall in a larger shared space with 6 other restaurants that are not gluten-free. We use our own equipment but we share a dish pit where our dishes are washed along with other restaurants'. We also share a dry storage space. We have our own fridge's and wash everything we prep to combat this. We also use World Centric compostable bowls that use plant fiber. It has been brought to our attention that they may contain small traces of gluten. Their website states that the bowls are gluten-free. We are committed to being compostable and have not found a better alternative to these bowls at this point but have been looking into it. Customers are always welcome to bring in their own Tupperware if this is a concern. Overall, we do everything in our power to make our food celiac safe but in our current location their are some things that are out of our control. We are moving to our own fully dedicated space in early 2025 and look forward to making sure everything is 100% safe for all of our customers. Please never hesitate to reach out to me directly at [email protected] with any questions or issues.
The food was super yummy and everything is gluten free so no worry for cross-contamination. The parking situation is difficult because the food stand is in Avanti which is busy but the food is really good!
Edit: the last time that I ate here I got sick afterwards. I was confused by what it may have been since everything is supposed to be gf. After reading through other reviews it seems there unfortunately may have been some contamination.
I ate here two days ago. Food had tasted good at the time. But within an hour after leaving I threw up so hard my eyes were bloodshot and hurting. Then I had all sorts of symptoms like diarrhea, swollen joints, joint pain, bloating, headache, and abdominal pain. I’m still feeling sick two days later.
As a FYI for anybody, they serve all the food in World Centric brand compostable Bowles From what I could find online with the World Centric brand compostable bowls they’re made with wheat and say it’s gluten free since they’re using wheat straw and not the seeds. Not certified gluten free for the compostable plates, but says it’s tested.
I’m not sure if the compostable plates made me sick, cross contamination (they’re in the same building as five other restaurants who some I think are non-gluten free), or if my food had allergens in it (gluten, milk, or coconut). My partner asked several times about any potential allergens and we were told everything was safe.
Something had an allergen or gluten in my food otherwise I wouldn’t be this sick.
If you aren’t extremely sensitive to gluten it’s probably okay. But I’m extremely sensitive to gluten.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry to hear you've had reactions at our restaurant. Please see below for a response on our processes. As for your other allergens, we do use coconut in a few of our menu items and I wonder if this was the issue. For severe allergies we are always happy to pull ingredients from new batches and switch out any shared serving utensils. Apologies, my staff should have offered this to you. Generally, I want to clarify a few things on our processes/ingredients (reposting from another review response for visibility). We had a wonderful experience here! Everything is gluten free and so it’s celiac safe! The bowls were huge and big portions of food. We ordered the Carnitas and Korean beef bowls. Both were perfect ideas of their respective flavor profiles. The sweet potato fries were thick and covered with toppings. Overall we definitely will be returning! Thanks for offering a safe and tasty option.
This place is great, having just opened in Avanti. They make bowls of various types, including a Buffalo Chicken bowl, Korean Beef, and Greek Buddha.
I tried their Tabouli and it is out of this world good. Sauces are made in-house and everything is free of gluten, soy, and refined sugar.
Second visit I tried the Ko’s Bowl with pesto dressing and feta. It was phenomenal. Tastes amazing and was super safe. My partner created his own bowl and loved it.
The owners are super friendly. Come check them out for awesome healthy and tasty options!
