The waitstaff all spoke English so ordering was not a problem. I had the poulet ferme and l’escargots. Food was delicious as was the crème brûlée I had for dessert.
Very nice atmosphere in this brasserie, but beware, as in much of France, you can’t get any food in the afternoon after lunch hours, not until 7pm. So can’t review their gluten free options, but had a nice café (espresso).
There are a LOT of birds outside in patio that are all over your meals as soon as they come out.
The waiter was extremely nice and helpful! When I got the gluten free bread that others on app recommended, it was nothing more than toast! That was disappointing.
The chicken and potatoes had a flavor that I found interesting.
The dessert was a pistachio and raspberry creme brûlée that was OUTSTANDING!
Sitting outside they were a bit slow taking the order but from there it was all really good. Proper French menu and (so) vegetarian would be a problem. I ordered extra vegetables and no fries because they have very thin fries: not my taste. At least two of the waiters understood gluten free and without asking I was offered gluten free bread with the cheese. They were also able to immediately point out what could be selected from the menu and what could be adapted. The bread was toasted and as all of it gave no gluten reaction at all, I assume they did manage to avoid cross-contact.
Visited this the first evening we arrived. Outside seating right at the foot of the Cathedral was absolutely stunning. I had Bavette d'aloyau à la fondue d'échalotes which was a skirt steak with shallots and a very delicious salad with a mustard vinaigrette. I could eat a whole bowl of that salad. I ordered my steak medium and it was quite rare still which happens to be how they cook medium steak. It was good but a little under seasoned but they have a DELICIOUS and spicy mustard that goes well. The second time we visited I had the Poulet (ferme de la Longue Haie - Offranville), sauce au cidre normand (aile ou cuisse). Which was a chicken thigh poached in Norman Cider, once again good but the mustard really made it great. Also comes with pom frites (fries). I am a very sensitive celiac, that term isn’t very well understood here so print and laminate a French restaurant dining card to convey your needs. I also had the escargot before my kids got to it with bread and that was SOOOO good. Not chewy but bring some bread if you would like to sop up the garlicky butter goodness.
The service was very good. Normaly they have glutenfree bread (with a salad) but not today. The waiter apologized several times. The starter with aubergine was delicious and glutenfree. The waiter understood what glutenfree is. My husband had a steak and that’s also glutenfree. The bernaise sauce i am not sure if it is glutenfree.
We were able to have the salmon and fries. Our waitress could not understand or speak any English. Finally the manager came and helped us pick something out that we could eat which was kind. Food was ok but pricey.
