I got the salad bowl with falafel and added a side of fries. Staff is knowledgeable on Celiac and had procedures in place for avoiding cross-contamination (I didn’t even have to ask, I just told the staff I have celiac disease!). The lady serving me immediately went to wash her hands, grabbed fresh utensils, prepared fresh salad greens, falafels and pulled fresh crispy onions from the back. While they do make fresh pitas in house, the cross-contamination risk appeared to be very minimal, if any. Allergen information is on their website.
After I told a staff member I had celiac she told all the other staff members and put new gloves on and came out with new utencils. She walked with me the whole way down the line and explained what was happening to other customers. Over all it was a great experience and the food was good. The staff member I talked to knew also if each item was gluten free or not.
VERY well seasoned food. Staff was very knowledgeable about which items were gf and changed gloves and kept me stuff separate. TONS of options I got salad, hummus, baba, carrots, beets and falafel. Also lots of dairy free options.
They are very careful. He made me a separate salad base and changed gloves and tongs. All without me asking anything more than what was GF. Food was very good. Almost everything GF except pita and cookies.
NOT SAFE FOR CELIAC!!
The food is absolutely delicious and up until today, I always felt safe eating there but I likely won’t be back.
Like I have done many times before, I informed the initial guy in the line that I had a gluten allergy (I have celiac but find this is the best way to convey my reaction to gluten). He immediately washed his hands, and made a new bowl of greens. While he was mixing the greens, I saw him inform the gal on the toppings station that he would be topping my order. She even said…”oh…gluten allergy?” to which he confirmed.
I then watched as the girl proceeded to mix all of the toppings containers with their respective (contaminated) tongs.
When the initial guy showed back up with new tongs ready to top my order, I asked if he could take from new toppings containers because I had just watched her mix them all up with tongs that likely had gluten on them and he snidely said they didn’t have other containers (bull crap) and that they would have to make all new batches. I relented and asked for him to take from the bottom of the containers.
When I got to the cashier, I asked if there was by chance a manger available and she informed me that the man who had helped me was the manager. 😳
I do not necessarily fault the girl. Not every worker is going to understand all the food safety that goes along with celiac, but the attitude I received from the supposed manager is just simply not acceptable. Their salads are 16 friggin dollars….I expect more.
The hummus and baba are rubbed onto the pita, then the spoon is put back into the dish. Overall except for pita everything is gluten free so it is very safe
The menu is posted on the wall and does not say what is gluten free, but you can easily look up the menu, and find everything but the pita and pita chips are gf. The food is very delicious and they have gluten free fries as well
