Service and food are excellent! I had a typical sausage, eggs, and hash brown breakfast with gluten free toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and delivered hot. They were very careful with my food. The chef even asked the waitress to assure me that he cooked my food on a separate area of the grill that he only uses for food allergies.
The staff was super accommodating, and so much was gluten free. I asked specifically about cross contamination and if you mention that it’s an allergy or that you have celiac, the manager assured me that they take it very seriously and make things separately. The food is pretty good, I didn’t love what I ordered but my friends food was good, I think I just ordered the wrong thing. Did not get sick, feel confident about their practices, and would eat there again!
This place was a hit with me (Celiac) and the rest of my non-GF-eating party! Several good GF items to choose from. I got the tostadas AND power pancakes. No issues after. They have a homemade ketchup that the others at my table said was delicious, but I asked and was told it's not GF so I didn't eat it. I heard later they have regular ketchup and wish I'd thought to ask for that. Not sure that would've been GF, but I don't usually react to run-of-the-mill ketchup. The potatoes were great without ketchup, but I would have liked them even more with ketchup. Enough about ketchup. The place was great. I wish I lived closer so we could go more often.
Our visit on 7/4/22 was to the Carmel Valley location (near Del Mar, CA) and was a positive first experience with no GF after-effects. We will return.
The GF selection from the menu was Turkey Meatloaf Hash for $14. Delicious. Ate every bite. The GF whole grain bread tasted SO GOOD, we challenged the claim that it was GF bread and asked for the brand. They use Deanna's brand bread, a Southern California treat baked a few miles away in Escondido, CA.
Easy garage parking 100 feet from the front entrance. No wait for a table on a holiday, and we opted for an outdoor patio table. The reason for giving less than 5 stars was the poor service. Lunch took 1.5 hours. The server did not greet us until we we were seated for 15 minutes, did not check on us mid-meal, and did not refill water or coffee until we received the bill. Other servers we observed appeared to have their act together.
They were knowledgeable about Celiac and gf. Not a ton of options on menu, but several. They took extra care in the kitchen to acknowledge cross contamination and the manager brought out the food to our table personally, to inform us that he had over seen it’s preparing and came directly to us after it was ready.
Hands down the best gluten free experience I’ve ever had in LA! The food was absolutely to die for and the staff all were incredible in every way possible. Quite honestly the most attentive, kind, caring staff I’ve ever encountered at a resteraunt. They went above and beyond to make sure my food was safe and we were well looked after by ALL staff! There are SO many gluten free/celiac safe options on the menu, I was spoiled for choice. Will be visiting again next time we are in LA!
They have some GF options, but not as many as I had hoped (no pancakes, no GF English muffins for benedict, and the home fries are not marked GF). They do seem to take gluten free prep seriously, which is good. I didn't love the cinnamon raisin French toast, so I would get something else next time.
