I tend to need extra assurance that precautions are being made. I think this place is so used to having celiac or allergy customers that they might not get that. I asked for the server to speak with the kitchen staff about my needs for gloves change, fresh utensils and fresh batch of anything that might’ve been cut on shared surfaces. He assured me he would put the note “hospital allergy “ and that all would be taken care of. So, if you’re like me and need extra assurances, don’t be afraid to speak up about it. Every menu item I had was so good here. There’s a blanket surcharge of 2% on your entire bill for some reason. I asked about it and the server removed it. Weird! Super friendly staff.
Family of 7 went none of us are GF except my son. My teenage son had their GF Cinnamon Raisin French Toast and Jurassic Pork both were so yummy! He cleared his plates and he did not get sick! We did tell the waiter the GF was do to a health condition and he noted it on the order. I am always hesitant trying new places with him because his reaction is so severe and he reacts within an hour but after the other reviews we felt it’s worth a try. It did not disappoint.
Our new go-to weekend breakfast place. We have eaten at the location near UCI a dozen times and I've never gotten sick (I have celiac). They take gluten allery/ intolerance/ and celiac seriously.
Also, the menu is clearly labeled and extensive for those who need GF. I'm able to eat a verity such as: GF French toast, protein pancakes, egg benedicts, all thier scrambles, breakfast potatoes, plus a lot of thier breakfast specialty items like pesto turkey meatloaf hash with eggs (any style) with a side of GF toast & jam - the list goes on.
My server confirmed with the chef that the potatoes have their own dedicated frier! Big portions, nice vibe, will be back.
