I am disappointed in how Bricktops Coral Gables handles gluten free for celiac diners! Last night my celiac daughter was served the rib eye with the fried onions on the side. When I asked the server if the onions had gluten (I was most certain they did) he didn't know. He went back and asked the kitchen and came back and said that they did. I asked him nicely if he would bring her a new meal. He came back with the same plate with the onions removed!!!! I said thus Rik make her sick and asked for a new meal. It would have been nice for them to bring her side of mashed potatoes or something to eat for the 15 minutes we waited. I was still nervous and not 100% trusting and worried for the 3 hours or so after dining. I'm sad this happened because the menu and food is good for non celiacs only!! They should train the staff and be more careful!!!
For a while the restaurant was careful, but given that I just ordered from the GF menu, reiterated that I had celiac disease and was served a salad blanketed with the croutons I said needed to be left off, I'm thinking something has changed. Strongly recommend to avoid.
It is a good place for GF options. I had the fish tacos that came with coleslaw and avocado. The corn tortillas were fried in a shared fryer and I did have a reaction after dinner. That was my fault. I assume it was the tortillas even though I didn't ask about the coleslaw.
Our waiter was very willing to help me select delicious items which were within my gluten free and dairy free diet. The food was delicious. Often I leave restaurants wishing I would have eaten at home, but not this time! Because the prices are a bit above my budget, my family will visit this restaurant on special occasions. Loved it!
Not celiac friendly!! If you have celiac disease don't eat here!! The GF menu is not accurate and they have a hard time with ingredients and understanding what is safe etc..
GF menu. Knowledgable staff. Delicious food.
