Good selection of gf items but was expecting more from this restaurant; it felt a bit mediocre. Gf lobster and crab fondue was marked gf and very good, but no gf garlic toast so we had it with carrots which felt like a letdown. Fish is good, but not many choices. Dessert was creme brûlée which was average.
We were lucky enough to get a waiter who had Celiac and was very informed about what was safe for my daughter. They don’t have gluten free bread/buns and he advised against any sauces or the mashed potatoes because often a pinch of four is added. So even if things are noted as gluten free, they might not be celiac safe so definitely ask questions. My daughter had the filet minion with risotto and loved it. We also had the octopus which was safe and delicious. The swordfish and shrimp and crab Cobb salad were average at best and agree it tasted like Costco/frozen fish.
We called in advance to see what they had for children (5 YO has celiac) and they said they have a children’s menu with “grilled fish, Mac and cheese and some other things she might be able to eat” the woman noted she would put on our reservation that someone had celiac. We got there and turns out there are very few, if any, GF options where there isn’t potential cross contamination. So we order her a hamburger and they literally brought out a brown patty on a plate- nothing else. It was so sad and I was appalled they didn’t add a tomato, lettuce, pickle or something else!! Then to top it off, it was my husband‘s birthday also without even asking if we wanted anything for dessert they brought out cookie dessert and sat on the table and said “sorry“ and only brought one less spoon since our daughter couldn’t eat it. Not sure why they wouldn’t ask us what we wanted. Frustrating and very insensitive. Side note, the fish tasted like it might just be frozen Costco fish.
A few gluten free options, however the menu needed an update when we went. Much of the items marked to be gluten free or “can be modified to be gluten free” were in fact not available gluten free. The server was quite helpful in finding out what we could and couldn’t have, and didn’t get impatient at our many questions! We had oysters and octopus as an appetizer, all gluten free and great. I had the shrimp and grits, my wife had the salmon, and our friend had the mahi modified to be gluten free. I loved mine, my wife found hers average, and our friend liked the fish but not the sides. Overall, our experience was a bit underwhelming but still pretty good.
