This place is terrible take forever to be greeted. My chicken was only 3oz. For the price it was a huge let down. They do have gluten free buns I did not try. Definitely better options at the canyon to dine.
Tortilla soup was gluten free. It was just okay. I also had the short ribs without gravy and they were very tender, though I’m sure they are even better with gravy. My baked potato wasn’t very good, which is an odd thing to mess up.
Extremely rude and condescending waiter rambled off their GF options like an auctioneer on meth. They GF options they have are pathetic and tasteless! Hey, a chicken Caesar salad with no crotons or dressing is called lettuce! You can't even get their steamed veggies due to cross contamination! Avoid at all costs!
The food was decent. Good service. No wait on a Saturday night. Several gluten free options. I had the tortilla soup (which was fantastic) and sour cream chicken modified to be GF (which wasn't bad). They also had GF trout, steak, salads, and hamburgers.
We went back the next day for breakfast. I had an egg with GF toast. Your experience may depend on the knowledge of your server so just make sure they ask the kitchen. Our dinner server came back twice with different answers after talking with the chef. So the chef knows.
Black bean soup is delicious. Spinach salad w smoked trout very good.
If you're looking for a gluten free burger at the South Rim this is a good option. It's not amazing, but it's decent. The fries are not gluten free. The service can be a bit slow.
All of their menus tell you to ask your server about gluten free options. I ordered a turkey burger on a GF bun, and it was really tasty. You can get any toppings on your burger at no extra charge. I also got their black bean soup as a side, which was also good. Our server told me that their sweet potato fries were gluten free, but then came back and told me that they dry them in the same oil as everything else, so they gave me the soup instead. Thankfully they were fairly knowledgable about my options, and our server was really sweet.
This was one of the few options I had to eat GF at Grand Canyon. It was lunch- but my options were salad or sandwich. Went for the sandwich but had very bad gas afterwards. Probably cross contact issues as it did not come in tin foil or anything as other knowledgable establishments do. ALSO the service was slow... Couple next to us left.
Fabulous early morning breakfast on the South Rim! Boiled eggs were an option, if I was willing to wait 25 minutes (high altitude = longer cooking time). When the GF/cross-contamination issues were raised, the waitress didn't even blink. No problem, she said. Kitchen is trained on this. Fresh utensils will be used. So I had wonder file scrambled eggs and a very generous fruit plate with plenty of coffee shortly after dawn. The place was buzzing with other early risers.
