I love Buena Forchetta, but this location is not the ideal location to eat at as a celiac. Talked to the waiter and the GF pasta is boiled in the same water as the gluten pasta and the pizzas are made on the same surface as the other pizzas and with common ingredients. I ended up getting a delicious pear and spinach salad since that was going to be the safest. We’ve eaten at the San Marcos location a couple of times and enjoyed pizza and pasta without problems. The pizza is amazing as Buena Forchetta, but as a celiac I will go to the San Marcos location to get it.
Hi! I went there because a Celiac blogguer recommend it and I was surprised that when o came in the server told us that he cannot guarantee me to be Celiac Safe. I appreciate his honesty and I still stay there because of the great recommendations. My son (celiac) and I ask for the GF pepperoni pizza and it was AMAZING but I tested in NIMA and came back gluten found. I regret staying and glutened my son 🥲. He had a backache for 10 minutes (it’s his only symptom). I wish they will offer a dedicated space because the pizza is SO GOOD.
Based on the reviews I felt pretty confident in coming here, but the waiter said there is flour everywhere, they have no separate areas, no allergy protocols, and he said there was literally nothing he felt like I could safely order. He said they could wash a pot to make pasta separately, but that he felt sure that even cooking back there would contaminate the food.
Great pizza, Neopolitan-style with lots of creative topping choices. Offers a GF focaccia starter as well which is similar to just a plain pizza crust so kind of redundant but cool to see in menu. Pasta has GF option as well.
Server put “allergy” in kitchen notes so as to avoid cross contamination with pizza cutting utensils. Didn’t ask about whether the pasta water is separate.
Lively casual atmosphere and friendly service.
I got the gluten free pizza (I’m a celiac for 15+ years) and was shocked by how fluffy the crust was. I know ordering pizza from a restaurant that has a lot of flour is a risk but I rest my chances based on all the positive gluten-free reviews! I had leftovers, so I came home and tested the crust in my new Nima and after a few minutes it said contains gluten 😭. I did have a tummy ache but not other symptoms I usually get.
The best gluten free pizza and pasta I’ve had in the US. So so fluffy and such rich gnocchi
I found the restaurant on the app, but once there I asked if pizza was 100% safe And the waiter said it was cooked with other gluten pizza in the same oven! There is no reason to be celiac friendly if GF meals are not 100% safe!
Fantastic gf crust for the pizza & amazing service. I just moved to the Neighborhood & tried it based on these reviews, thanks all :) Next I will try the pasta!
I was so excited for this pizza after reading reviews on a Facebook page. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Smelled amazing in there. But the pizza had absolutely no flavor. The texture of the crust was amazing for being GF. I was afraid at first that I didn't get the GF pizza. But sadly, I couldn't even eat it. I normally really like pizza with San Marzano tomatoes. But this needed garlic, salt, basil... maybe it was an off night.
Real Italian restaurant. Serving Homemade Gluten free pizza and any toppings. Gluten free pasta too. Desert was amazing we had panacota and cheese cake both gluten free. Staff were very knowledgeable. Service was amazing. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.
