Burton's is the best GF friendly restaurant in CT. Just about everything on the menu can come GF. The staff is very knowledgeable and GF orders come on a square plate, while non-GF gets a round plate. The fried calamari is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Amazing celiac friendly options and no chance of cross contamination because of the seperate kitchen space. Definitely my go to spot! Every server I've had here is great, which only adds to this establishment.

There are two menus. Gluten sensitive and the regular menu. My boyfriend ordered the cauliflower bites for an appetizer. When they arrived the waitress put it down and left before i could make sure they were GF so i waited until she came back to ask. She looked shocked when I asked and said they weren't gluten free. I thought since they were on the regular menu and GS menu they would be safe but I guess you have to be specific. Just make sure you say gluten free in front of everything you order and they're great. Food is delicious too. HIGHLY recommend. Just make sure you're specific. Update: I went again, the waiter i had told me that they had specific plates. Square plates and bowls are GF and round are non GF. Good to know!!!!:)

I went there Saturday night after making a reservation online. We were asked if anyone needed a gf sensitive menu. I can't have gluten or dairy so I asked about choices. Our waitress said they could do pretty much anything gf df because it's made to order. For the first time in years I got fried pickles and calamari! My entree was scallops with a veggie risotto. As my food was delivered each time they reiterated the allergy accommodation saying "gluten free dairy free". I am so impressed with how knowledgeable and considerate this restaurant is and highly recommend. Only disclaimer they gave me was that items that contain dairy are fried in the gf fryer but I'm not that sensitive to dairy so I was fine.

We had a wonderful meal Thursday night. Our waitress, Elizabeth, was amazing! She did a phenomenal job navigating our special diets. Two of us have Celiac Disease. Burton's Grill does a great job keeping us gluten free and safe from cross contamination. They really know what they are doing. Burton's uses square plates to designate special diets/allergies. They have an extensive menu. The owner has Celiac Disease and has done a great job educating the staff. It's very rare to find a restaurant with such a knowledgeable kitchen and wait staff. Thanks Elizabeth and Burton's Grill! We will definitely be back!

Words cannot describe how wonderful Burtons is about GF food. They have a great, varied GF menu, and they are incredibly diligent about getting it right. Servers won't even carry a GF dish at the same time as a non-GF dish! Burtons can even do most of its kids' menu GF. We have eaten there dozens of times and NEVER had an issue.

As others have said, the hostess asked if anyone in party had gluten allergies, didn't have to ask for g-free menu ourselves. Went for lunch after my wife had outpatient procedure since I took the day off. Seated right away, and a server who wasn't even ours, just assisting came over and explained the way g-free works at Burtons. Special square plates and told if it comes out on a plate not square don't eat it. They had calimari!! With cherry peppers!! Cooked perfectly!! Hadn't had that in over 5 yrs. also had max burger with fries cooked in special fryolater for g-free. Waitress and staff very attentive, wonderful meal. Will return soon.

Best restaurant I've ever been to! I'm still dreaming of the delicious food I got here with my husband! We can never find GF restaurants when we're traveling--they were just amazing. They do different shaped plates for GF and non-GF, bring out separate bread (the GF garlic bread was fantastic!), and I had a chicken lemon cream rissotto with pesto dish that was out of this world! Next trip through CT we will DEFINITELY be coming back! :)

This place is INCREDIBLE!!! I have been here countless times and never have I been disappointed. I usually get the Maxx Burger because it is just so good. GF calamari appetizer is amazing, and the vanilla bean creme brûlée is unbelievable. Chocolate tort was delicious as well, coated with a thick ganache and drizzled with a raspberry or cherry syrup--I cannot remember which. I never worry about cross contamination; they all know their stuff very well! The GF food items come out on "square" plates (more like squares with rounded corners) to distinguish them as GF versus regular items which are served on circular plates. The menu is diverse and there are many options. As far as I can tell there isn't any up charge for items being GF, which is nice! I recommend signing up for the Burton's Loyalty card (free) and every 300 points ($300) you get $25 off. It helps a lot! The prices are higher than a place like Friendly's but to me it is well worth the price. I always feel like I'm getting a deal to eat such incredible food and have it be GF. Burton's is definitely my favorite restaurant, if you haven't checked it out yet hurry up and go!

I've been here twice since going Gluten Free due to health reasons. It was the first meal Id had in months that actually looked just like it's gluten filled counterpart. First off when you walk in they ask you if you would like a gluten free menu. They are very aware, and use separate fryers. Both times I got chicken sandwich on a GF buns and fries. Very good. One word of caution, however, was our waitress messed up and gave me a roll with dairy in it (I also have a dairy allergy). As always, even though they are very in-tune with gluten, if you have other allergies always double and triple check. I'm a little more limited due to my combo gluten-dairy avoidance, but if you just avoid gluten the gluten free menu had lots of great options!

I was traveling through the area and used the app to find this place... what a gem! My daughter and I were coming back from celiac camp in Rhode Island and decided to stay overnight nearby before heading home to Rochester. We decided to go out to dinner and the moment we walked into this place, we knew that it was going to be an exceptional place. They took our cell phone number and told us that we could go and window shop while we waited as the wait would be about 20 minutes. We went to this cute little jewelry store and made a purchase "while we waited" and before you knew it, we were seated. They have a wonderful GF menu with prices listed on it and the menu was filled with appetizers, dinners and even desserts! They brought out oven baked rolls with a garlic butter - FABO!! Where do you get GF rolls? Right here! So tastey! We felt like royalty and praised the waitress for the selection and the rolls. She let us know that the owner is Celiac as well and they have a separate prep area for GF! We ordered fried calamari - delicious and for dinner my daughter had the shrimp scampi with pasta and I had sword fish with hand cut french fries... everything was incredible, even dessert. We selected the vanilla creme brulee..... YUMMY! I can't wait until camp again next year so that we can treat ourselves to dinner here again! Thank you for such a great experience. http://site.burtonsgrill.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/GF-Lunch-July12-WEB.pdf

I refer to Burtons Grill in all of my reviews of other restaurants because Burtons does gluten free right. This approach has lead to repeat business and happy referrals to other diners both gluten-free and "normal". Burtons approach does not make me feel like a second-class citizen, like other restaurants do. I am at ease and not in fear of receiving food that will hurt me while eating at Burtons. Give it a try.

Many gluten-free options. I tried the ahi tuna burger. It was super delicious. It was like ceviche on a gluten-free bun. The fries were over seasoned and over salted, so I will ask them to go light on that in the future. Make sure that you emphasize gluten-free, because one day I did take out, and I am fairly certain that they gave me a regular bun by mistake. The service is really great, and the manager was awesome in responding to my concerns.

They brought me my own plate of pre-meal GF bread (warm and toasted with rosemary baked in, and a pesto oil to dip) which really went the extra mile in making me feel included in the whole meal. This place is fabulous and has great protocols in place to keep celiac‘s safe. The wait staff is supposed to ask you if there are any allergies at the table before they take your order. Then they have an allergy manager who actually brings out your food. I’ll allergy food is served on the square plate and everybody else’s food is served on a round plate. The food was delicious. Just took my celiac daughter a few days ago and had an amazing experience. We were told the owner has celiac so the kitchen staff is well trained on the risk of cross contamination. The server told us they have 3 separate fryers in the kitchen - one for seafood, one for gluten and one for gluten free items. We had a wonderful appetizer called General Tso's cauliflower which had even the vegetable skeptics at the table fighting over the last bits. My daughter had a gluten free crab cake and french fries (from the dedicated fryer) and had no reaction. We almost went back the next night since there were so many choices!

Wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu items. The manager came by to explain how the food is handled that there is a separate area for gluten free food prep. The food was delicious. The customer service was outstanding. The whole experience was amazing.

Our FAVORITE restaurant around! Always go above and beyond! I love that allergy orders come out on square plates from the manager!

Didn’t give it a 5 star because they messed up kn my order. I ordered salmon, “the waiter asked how I wanted it have it cooked . I responded well done. At the end I got grilled shrimp and the big size of course more money, however it was good. Got the dessert on the house chocolate cake gluten free which was beyond amazing.

Love this place. Dedication kitchen space and fryer. Love to come sit at the bar and order food while we watch whatever game is on. Staff is really friendly and I always feel well taken care of by them. So used to going out to eat and feeling super nervous and timid about ordering but they make you feel right at home here.

They were super thorough in understanding our food allergies. My mom was in town and besides needing to be gluten free, she had a severe corn allergy. They were amazing. Food was delicious and no one got sick after eating it!

They truly take allergies seriously here. When we walked in they immediately asked if we needed a gluten free menu and while placing the order the server asked if we had any allergies. Managers brought out my meal and explained that all gluten free items are brought out on a square plate by a manager. After reading other reviews we decided to try the General Tso’s Cauliflower and it was amazing!! I also had the Lobster Shrimp Pasta which was very yummy.

The gluten free menu is AMAZING. Usually GF options are just stripped-down versions of regular menu items...but not at Burton’s! The GF choices are real dishes with GF ingredients substituted so you don’t feel deprived. Options include a fried fish sandwich, fries (regular and sweet potato), crab cakes and fish topped with crab stuffing! There are also many DF options and accommodations available. The food was amazing and, most importantly, it was responsibly prepared and served - my dish was brought out by the manager, who confirmed it was GF. I will definitely be a regular!

By far my favorite restaurant. Very good for celiac and gluten free diners. Staff is highly educated and they have a very wide selection. Almost everything on the kids menu could be made gluten free and there were numerous options on the normal menu. They also offer gluten free dessert. A manager will also bring your gluten free food out to be sure everything was prepared properly. Aside from the gluten free part, the restarting is inviting and is located in a very nice location.

Great choice for celiac. I was offered a gluten free menu at the host station before I asked for one, which was extensive and had lots of choices. They brought me gluten free bread and brought regular bread for the rest of my table on a separate plate. All of my GF food came on square plates which separated it from the rest. And the food was overall really good. Really good experience.

Truly an outstanding restaurant. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars I would, it’s that impressive. They take food allergies VERY seriously, more than any other restaurant I have ever frequented. The best part is that their number of GF options is tremendous, the food is beyond excellent, and this place is not to be missed!

I have a wheat sensitivity and avoid dairy as much as possible so, I always ask for the gluten free menu at restaurants but, I was surprised when they had a bonus paleo section. The staff was attentive and careful when handling my food. Totally recommend Burtons. Yours truly, Happy with a full tummy :)
