Amazing selection of gluten free items on the menu. I had a fried fish sandwich, it was delicious - very fresh tasting and light, crisp breading. Gluten free bun was amazing. A piece of chocolate layer cake was split amongst the group, and even the gluten-eaters loved it. The gluten free food comes on a square plate so you can be sure it’s safe. Highly recommend, great experience!

Highly recommend! There were so many amazing Gluten Free choices from fresh seafood to burgers to truffle fries! Also had two gluten-free desserts, but we did not have those.

They say they treat allergies seriously but at the same time they don’t keep tables, menus or even cutlery clean. They do have gluten free menu. They try to be “better” restaurant, there is potential but something is really off. Flavor wise also really average. My stomach hurt after eating there.

They take GF food allergies seriously and their food is delicious!

My absolute favorite item is their GENERAL TSO CAULIFLOWER. My husband who never orders cauliflower was surprised how much he enjoyed the appetizer.

Their salads are big. I enjoy the HARVEST VEGETABLE BOWL and cannot finish it in one sitting. The rice quinoa mix is perfectly cook.

Restaurant was understaffed & very apologetic about it. However the service & food were great.

There aren't many places a celiac can have deep fried fish sandwich, but this was one of them!

They have big warnings on the website & menu about allergies and also ask about allergies when you first sit down.

Note that there is not a separate GF menu in person but there is on the website. In person they say they can make almost anything GF.

Came here because of the great safety reviews. Ordered the GF chicken piccata, which comes with GF penne pasta. When I'd eaten most of it, i found a piece of angel hair pasta in it, which is not GF. Manager said the chef grabbed the non-gf tongs to pull out the pasta, which likely had the piece of angel hair on it. Protocols are only good if people are following them. Cannot recommend. Manager did comp meal and gave a gift card, but i won't be back.

Most of the menue is available on their gf menu. I got the risotto fritters and they were exalent. I will be back before the end of my trip.

Update: I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar. The food was good, but they refused to refill my water.

Very good for gf. We felt very safe. First question to us by the server was if we had any allergies or eating restrictions. We were a table of six. Some liked there food a lot, some not as much. Burger buns were really good.

Near the University of Maryland, Burton's has a very large gluten free menu.

From appetizers to desserts, I counted 45 gluten free choices for lunch or dinner.

It's a bit noisy, but worth it for the food. A gluten free friend with us said " I can bring both my

(non gluten free) parents here and there are choices we would all like!"

Dang, this place is wonderful. While the menu changes by season, this current season had two total things that weren’t able to be made gluten free. They were key lime pie and croutons. Everything else on the menu was *easily* changed to gluten-free, just by switching out the kind of bread, the pasta, and so on. Since the gluten-free to regular items had such a small difference, my table got all gluten-free food, ordering risotto fritters, buffalo chicken dip, mac and cheese, their short rib grilled cheese, and spinach falafel, as well as an absolutely heavenly seven layer chocolate cake. Staff is super knowledgeable, and I was completely safe. Perfection.

Fantastic gf menu. I had a delicious burger with a bun! All kinds of choices that you would see on the gluten menu like pasta and firecracker shrimp, etc. I was so happy and will be going back!!!

I’ve been to Burtons grill many times now and its amazing! Because the owner has celiacs they’re very cautious. The staff is knowledgeable and understanding about the gf menu. They have a dedicated gf area and gf fryer. Pretty much the whole menu can be made gf. A allergy awareness certified person will bring your food out. Not only that but all and only gf food is served on a square plate. Only downside is it’s a little expensive but the food is always delicious and you don’t have to worry about ever getting sick! Great for celiacs and all gf people!

I have celiac. Burtons is always always fabulous with fabulous food and waitstaff. BE SURE if you have Celiac or an allergy to tell both the host(ess) AND your server that you have a gluten “allergy.” My experience was great and our waiter was very kind but I had a close call because I had not specified I had an allergy to him, so the first thing he brought out was not marked GF. Overall great experience, I didn’t get sick thankfully because it turned out to be GF anyways, but the similarities between the regular and gluten free menu can make slips easy.

Absolutely LOVE Burton’s! I haven’t been Celiac tested but I definitely have a gluten allergy and am very sensitive. I’ve eaten here 3 times and had drinks here once and have never had a reaction. Their staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The gluten free menu is actually almost the entire regular menu (even their pastas can be substituted with gluten free pasta), rather than just one or two gf dishes like some places have. I’m personally a huge fan of their steak, baked potatoes, and general tso’s cauliflower. I would eat here every day if I could afford it!

This place is amazing. I’ve been here 5 times since moving to town, and the maxx burger and fries is so good that I haven’t even tried anything else yet. Extensive gluten free menu, and absolutely delicious. Safe kitchen practices for Celiacs. The only con is that I don’t think they have any GF dessert (but I’m always too full to ask!)

Just took my celiac daughter a few days ago and had an amazing experience. We were told the owner has celiac so the kitchen staff is well trained on the risk of cross contamination. The server told us they have 3 separate fryers in the kitchen - one for seafood, one for gluten and one for gluten free items. We had a wonderful appetizer called General Tso's cauliflower which had even the vegetable skeptics at the table fighting over the last bits. My daughter had a gluten free crab cake and french fries (from the dedicated fryer) and had no reaction. We almost went back the next night since there were so many choices!

Just opened last week and seems like a really good option and, best of all, got carryout last night and didn't get glutened! They have an allergy prep area, a manager handles allergy food, and a dedicated fryer. They also have some Paleo and vegetarian options. I had the knife and fork burger and a few bites of my husband's risotto and had no problem!

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I could! The service was unmatched- our waiter and the manager came multiple times to check and make sure our food was ok. The GF menu is the most extensive I’ve ever seen and what we had was fantastic! I had the fried haddock sandwich with fries and it was incredible. I have been to this location multiple times and always felt safe eating here. There is a good selection of GF items, my GF menu looked similar in size to my husband’s normal menu, they even offer GF dessert. I personally like the Mediterranean Chicken Risotto.

Was asked up front by the hostess if we were gluten free. The gluten free menu is big compared to other places we have tried. The starter bread was amazing and my wife enjoyed the house salad. We both had burgers for our mains, and they were good, but not amazing. I had Parmesan truffle fries for my side that were also only ok. The cheesecake for dessert though was very good.

I have been to many different Burtons locations, this Shrewsbury location was the worst experience ever! Didn’t use the standard red gf plate, had no idea if the fryer was contaminated. I subbed mashed potatoes with Brussels sprouts, I got 3 dry sprouts, chicken was dry. I was billed for sweet potato fries even though I did not get them (they were unable to figure out if the fryer was safe). Based on all my other 5 star Burton diners, this Shrewsbury location should not be allowed to call themselves Burtons!
