We were greeted kindly and asked about allergies by the hostess. Our lovely server, Kelly, I think, reiterated that and said she would write down severe allergy. We had gluten free focaccia bread, nice! And I had Mediterranean chicken risotto, which was delicious! So many choices! So good and no issues!

I will never eat here again. Twice in the last two months I have received tainted food. The first time it was a piece of pasta on risotto. Tonight it was regular pasta instead of gluten free. The manager refused to take responsibility, saying it wasn't his fault. No remorse.

Amazing! Sat at the bar as we had no reservations. We were immediately greeted and asked about food allergies, as was everyone else served near us. Our food came out separately as my hubby isn't gf, from different directions. I asked if they had dedicated area for allergens and was told yes. I'm not CD, but severely intolerant and was fine. Our friends whose children have peanut and tree nut allergies also eat here without difficulty. And might I mention, the food was delicious???

I was surprised to find such good quality food in a chain, but Burton’s delivers. It’s become our go-to for safe food experiences. We would eat anything that they put on the menu. And as a scratch kitchen, we actually can eat anything on the menu. Started by someone familiar with Celiac, this is a safe haven for the culinary curious.

They are so great with allergies. They have an entire (and huge) gluten free menu and are extremely careful. The food was amazing, and they give you so much of it. I would highly recommend the sweet potato fries, they are out of this world!!!

Burton’s offers excellent food & service. As their owner has celiac, almost all menu items can be made GF and easily DF as well. They have GF/DF bread, Udi’s buns, penne & sometimes spaghetti, as well as a dedicated GF fryer. If you haven’t been, I would highly recommend!

I’ve been eating at Burton’s since being diagnosed Celiac 4 years ago and never had to worry. This was my first visit to this location. I informed my server of my need for gluten free and my burger was brought out on a square plate ( which is how Burton’s identifies allergy plates). I was suspicious of the bun and had my non Celiac partner try it who confirmed it was not gluten free. We sent it back and the manager who brought out my meal apologized profusely but for a restaurant praising itself on allergy accommodation this is an alarming mixup especially since it appears the last reviewer had the same problem. I’m lucky we caught this before I ate it and got sick but this definitely erodes my confidence.

This place is supposed to be the gold standard for celiacs but I’m not sure. We told the waitress at least 5 times that our son had celiac and his order needed to be GF. She repeated it back to us. Yet when his burger came out, it was not on a GF bun. They apologized profusely (although didn’t credit his meal). Anyway, the lesson is, if you have celiac you always have to be vigilant.

Outstandingl - had dinner here last evening with our family and hubby (who was diagnosed with Celiac last year) enjoyed a fantastic dinner. His GF menu was almost equal in size and choices as the regular menu. He enjoyed fried calamari for the first time in over a year. The whole family enjoyed and we ordered extra for the table. Not only GF, the calamari were extremely tender. Everyone, including our 7 year old Grandson, enjoyed a great dinner. Our server Nick was great as well as being knowledgeable about Celiac. We so recommend this restaurant and t will be our go to spot when visiting our children who live in area. Thank you Burtons!

First thing the hostess asked, after how many people in our party, was if anyone had a gluten allergy or sensitivity. This started out our dining experience on the right foot! They have a full separate GF menu with appetizers, soups and main courses. Not just a couple choices! The server also asked first thing too about allergies. We ordered the GF calamari as an appetizer ...EXCELLENT! Highly recommend ordering! My main course was the breaded fish sandwich with fries, this was a messy sandwich and needed a little extra tarter, but it was great. The kids menu choices were a little pricey for what was provided. We arrived for our meal about 20 minutes before closing (since we had to find a gf place, of course). They were extremely accommodating and didn't give the impression that we were a hindrance which we knew we were. All of the staff was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent. Almost didn't order the fried calamari because the menu says its spicy and I don't like spicy. So I asked for it without peppers and it was divine. Had the chicken sandwich with fresh cut fries. All was great. Waiting on pumpkin creme brûlée right now and can't wait! I haven't eaten since this morning and I am stuffed but it's all so good!

Love love love Burton's. The owner is a fellow celiac, so he has made his restaurants safe havens for us all, Go, enjoy, eat without fear. I have celiac and I ate twice here a few weeks ago. No issues at all. Just a full tummy!! The service is superb and the burgers and fries-- just amazing. Even the warm GF bread was good (and those can suck, let's be honest!) If I still lived in the area, I'd eat there all the time. Thank you, Burton's!!!

We went back for lunch and it was pretty good. We had hamburgers and French fries and the hamburger buns were locally made and delicious. We just wish they didn't char all of their meats. I would give them a 5 star rating if not for that. We definitely feel safe eating there, though, and will go back.

Excellent place for those with celiac. Greeted by being asked if we needed a gf menu at the front. Then greeted by the waiter asking if anyone was gf and then fully explained how they make sure that plates, dishes are kept separate. Food options were absolutely awesome and did not just include menu items without the wheat products but actually were their own creations and everything we ate was top notch!! Every person on staff was super nice and clearly felt pride and enjoyment in the place they worked. This place is at the top of my list from now on!

My younger brother has celiac and said “this is the best meal I’ve ever eaten”. I have celiac too and truly appreciated the options. The gluten free menu is just as long with as many options as the regular menu. They make everything from scratch in order to accommodate food allergies. I was very comfortable with the safety of the food. They had separate servers bring the gluten free food out. It was delicious and we loved being able to order things like fried fish, pasta, sandwiches and burgers on gluten free buns, and cake. Honestly so good, I can’t wait to bring my mom who has celiac to this place.

Server was amazing. Very clear details on various allergies (specifically for me, dairy, egg, and nut free, including the gluten free). He was very detailed and ensured our visit was on point. Food comes out on different style plate and the person bringing it out specifies what allergens were left out of the plate. The food was delicious and service was great. Was visiting in Charleston, SC. Would go again. For sure!

Our server was Cameron, thanks sir!

I’ve eaten here many times and never had an issue. They take allergies very serious and ask the table if anyone has any allergies before they take orders. I am celiac and allergic to eggs and they always can accommodate me with no issues. Dedicated fryer is always a bonus. Probably my favorite place to eat in cville.
