I love this place! I live for their GF cupcakes and cookies. My non-GF boyfriend loves them too. Though they’re not dedicated GF, I’ve never had a reaction to what I’ve eaten here.
100% vegan but it doesn’t taste like it. Fantastic food, clearly marked with a gf sign and even got my cookie in a little bag marked with a gf. I ordered the artichoke dip (which I haven’t had for years!) and it was absolutely delicious along with the pesto meatball (portobello mushroom) burger. Will be returning very soon!
Yes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and make suggestions and double check if there is any hesitation. Really great gf buns. Also I came with my vegan friend. It is a vegan restaurant so they get It. I will be back.
I prefer this location to the one at Rockefeller Plaza as the food is fresher and hotter, the lines are shorter and getting tables is easier. At Rockefeller Plaza, it’s a gamble to order fries, etc, as they are often cold and stale. Also, it’s swarming with food delivery couriers who seem to get priority. Another review mentioned that they accidentally got a non-gf order. This is a frequent occurrence at this chain generally. Always ask for the receipt to see if it says ‘gluten free’ next to your order. Also, there should be a pink ‘gf’ sticker on your food container. I’ve never had a reaction after eating at By Chloe. Talking of stickers, be prepared for sticker shock- the gf ‘tax’ is high(!) It’s about $15 for a gf vegan ‘burger’ or large gf ‘pasta’ but it’s Manhattan prices and we need more safe gf fast food outlets for hot meals- we can’t all survive on cookies and chips or fork out on expensive restaurants.
After numerous positive experiences at by Chloe in NY, I was excited to find it in LA. They were familiar with celiac and cross contamination issues — the guac burger patty is prepared on the same grill as gluten, but they offered to prep it in the oven instead. I got the fries and kale/artichoke dip and feel fine so far. I chose not to test it with my Nima because of my previous good experiences.
They were careless when entering my order and served me the big wheaty shells in my vegan Mac n Cheese. (The GF pasta there are elbows.) Triple check your order at the counter. I asked for a free kombucha to "antidote" the few bites I'd taken.
Both times had their food I got sick, not safe for severe celiacs
They can’t say if there is gluten free in their gluten free options....
This place covers it all- some level of kosher, vegan, and most items can be made gluten free including pasta and French fries. I really like it for a filling but not too heavy lunch in the area. Everything is vegan. My favorites are the Mac n cheese, pesto pasta, and salads. I have to try the burgers again, not sure if I loved them. Seems safe and added bonus of no dairy.im sensitive to cc and I haven’t gotten sick here
Do not go here. Says gluten free in menu. Halfway of eating the food I got severely sick. I stated how I needed it to be gluten free and they put my gf fries on the same tray on top of a burger that wasn’t gf. The manager told me it’s my fault I shouldn’t be eating there and if I didn’t need an ambulance I’m not that sick.
Got the Mac and cheese, special latkes, colorful chocolate chip cookie, and matcha. Everything was delicious, especially the cookie. Good chipotle aioli on the side. Matcha was alright but all around good. And came with GF sticker
All Vegan with GF options. Their is a risk for CC.
DO NOT GO HERE IT IS NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY!!! STAFF ASSURED ME 3 TIMES THAT MY ORDER WAS GLUTEN FREE BUT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MEAL NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY SERVED ME A NON GLUTEN FREE MEAL. SO SICK THANKS TO INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!
