Cafe La Boheme is an Italian restaurant, with the option to swap in gluten-free pasta for all of their pasta dishes for an extra 200円. Anime fans may recognize it as the inspiration for Taki’s part time job in “Your Name/Kimi no Na wa”.

I ordered the tomato & mozzarella pasta with gf noodles, and the grilled fruit sangria. The waitress didn’t really seem to understand what a gluten was, but when I rephrased it as I couldn’t eat wheat or barley, she understood. The pasta was really good, maybe the best gf pasta noodles I’ve had in Tokyo. The texture is really close to regular spaghetti. The sauce was slightly acidic, which went well with all of the mozzarella. It kind of tasted like if a margherita pizza was a pasta. The sangria tasted closer to a mixed fruit juice than a sangria. I would get the pasta again, but would pass on the sangria. Service was a little slow, I waited 20+ minutes for one pasta dish. No one came to give me the bill until I went to the cash register to pay and was told to go back to my table and wait until someone came to give me my bill.

There is a basic dress code, basically no athleisure, and they don’t let people under 20 in after 6:00 pm. If you’re in a group bigger than 2, I would recommend making a reservation online before you show up. I was seated very quickly as an individual but almost all of the group tables were reserved.
