Asked what was GF and the employee told me the tostada, chips and nachos were GF. I ordered the tostada and my GF son ordered the nachos. Found out later after checking the nutrition facts on the website that the queso on the nachos contains wheat.

We came in yesterday my husband loves cafe rio he had been so excited to eat there. We live in Washington now and don't have any there. I have celiacs and can not eat gluten, they have corn tortilla, chicken, fish even steak for me. The fish looked very dry so I got the chicken. I asked for them to change their gloves and the female who was making it said "I just put them on" I was concerned about the fact that the tortilla that was in the tin had been put there by the person making everyone's food. However she should not have argued about it. At this point my husband took over placing the order. My tostada was the worst I have ever tasted it was a salad with little cheese, chicken and some sour cream. The chicken was hard and dry, after the 3rd bite I gave up. My husband asked them to make the chicken fresh. The line cook/server said it would be 10 minutes to cook. 20 minutes went by and not a single word from the staff about the frsh cooked chicken. When we asked to see a manager the cashier smirked and chuckled but refused to answer us.My husband had the Barbacoa pork quesadilla. It tasted good but only had a small amount of meat. There was only enough meat to barely fill 2/3 of the tortilla. They were taking so long to make mine I said nevermind and we left. Very sad. I paid for a 3rd of quesadilla and 3 bits of a tostada. They were rude and did not even care when I told them to let someone know Never mind of the chicken. You should not have to wait 30 mins for chicken and they should have made it the right way to begin with.

This place was delicious before I had celiac. I looked at the website and nothing is gluten free. The meat, the tortillas, the dressing, the rice, literally everything has gluten in it. Please don't eat here if you have celiac.
No
Worst place for a celiac ever!!! They add flour to everything, including their corn tortillas, rice and beans. So sad!!
No
Not gluten free for celiacs. I saw them use the same tongs for gluten and gluten free (also the tongs come in contact with the tortillas so celiacs beware. If you are gluten free as part of the fad diet only the food is very good. Try the pork burrito smothered and the key lime pie

Cross contamination warning. I've gotten sick from eating food from café rio. I know another person with celiac who got sick from here

Costa Vida has similar food, better quality and gluten free. Cafe Rio has flour in every sauce, in the meat, the beans, etc.

Ugh. I ate a steak salad and passed on the tortilla. So lettuce, pico, corn strips, cilantro and steak. Made me really sick before even getting home. I'm thinking the cross contamination is horribly large.

There is gluten in everything. Everything. Even rice and beans. They are clueless...even the manager. The "corn tortillas" offered as GF has flour in them. If you want to get sick this is your first stop.
Zero stars for this place. The staff were unknowledgeable and acted put out to have make a gluten free meal. The food we ordered ( nachos with black beans and guacamole) caused a gluten reaction even though we were told we would be safe.

They have no care in the world to even attempt to cater those with gluten allergies. We go to Costa Vida and give them our business now! :)

The ONLY GF option is the nachos with meat. Beans, rice, and even the corn tortillas have gluten mixed in. Plus it's kind of expensive compared to other restaurants of this style in south Fort Collins. Won't be back
Only g.f items are lettuce, pico, guac and grilled chicken.

You will get very sick which sucks because it's delicious.

I assumed this would be similar to Costa Vida with lots of gluten-free options. Unfortunately I was wrong and got very sick after eating there. After looking at their website, I discovered that everything I ate there had gluten in it! Their website recommends eating a salad with grilled chicken and no rice, beans, tortilla, or dressing. I won't be going back.

Favorite place ever
I don't even know why this is on here. They move you through the line so quickly that you don't even get a response when you say you are gluten free. They don't seem to care either when you say it. I gave it two tries and both times got very sick. If you want real gluten free mexican, go to costa vida. They are awesome about it. But keep an eye on them. Sometimes the young, new employees don't get it yet.
No
They also use gluten in their rice, beans, and sweet pork recipes. They do not get it. Used to love, pre-celiacs, now go to costa vida, they understand.
No
I was told that many items on the menu were GF, but kept getting sick only to find out later from another location that the only GF item was grilled chicken. Not a good restaurant for those with celiac.
No
Selection sucks costa vida is the place to go if you need GF
Don't eat hear if you have Celiac or wheat issues. Everything has gluten including all the dressings and they don't get it. Go to Costa Vida. They have been trained and promote GF. Don't get me wrong, Cafe Rio is great for non-GF people.
I cant believe i saw a 1 star for the best food and service in the world wow thats an extremely hard person to please.
Cafe Rio uses standard flour in their corn tortillas last time I asked.
Cross contamination definitely occurred, I was sick within 10 minutes of eating here. I even got a salad thinking it would be better, still got sick.

Okay so I have pretty severe celiac and when I first got diagnosed and didn’t know much about how things can get cross contaminated and just because it doesn’t have wheat it doesn’t mean it’s gf. I thought it would be okay to just get a salad with no tortilla and just have meat rice beans and lettuce. But I had the worst reaction after. I wouldn’t recommend cafe rio if you have celiac disease but if you have a gluten intolerance you should be fine.

Cafe Rio has told me that they don't use educated equipment. They even cook their corn tortillas on the same equipment as the flour. If you have celiac or a serious wheat allergy I recommend not eating here unless they change their practices.

Everything has gluten in it on the menu. Beans, rice, meat….. all of it has gluten in it so it’s not safe if you have celiac. I eat at Costa Vida now, as the only thing on the menu that has gluten is their flour tortillas and desserts.

All the tortillas are not gluten free including the corn tortilla. The pork is not either. They have a little gluten free but lots of cross contamination.
