I found Canopy Road Cafe on the Find Me GF app as I was looking for a place to have breakfast with my cousin. The waiter was friendly and I told him I needed to eat GF and he kindly directed me away from an item that couldn’t be GF and said I could get the pancakes GF. I was between the Speciality Reeses PB Pancakes and Cinnamon one and he said get both. I ordered both, ate 1/2 of each and took the rest home. They were very tasty. Within a couple hours of leaving I started to feel nauseous then started sweating profusely. I ran to the bathroom and proceeded to vomit pretty violently. I proceeded to vomit for the next two hours on and off, approximately 50-60x, my body rejecting everything in my gut including stomach vile. I went from sweating to cold sweats and shaking. I’ve had this happen before a few years ago, it’s how my body responds when ingesting gluten since being free of gluten once diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I don’t know if I should let the restaurant know, I’m not the type to complain, but it was a really bad gluten attack meaning I was either served something not gluten free on accident or through a significant amount of cross contamination I was exposed. Just be careful at this establishment if you are a Celiac, I would not wish for anyone to ever get that sick. From a service standpoint, my pancakes were delivered to the table about 15 minutes earlier than my cousin’s breakfast. Apparently there is only one waffle machine and it was a waffle sort of morning but the timing of our food delivered to the table was pretty bad from a restaurant service standpoint. I want to give the place another shot as it’s cute and I think the food options are great for both celiac and non-celiac, I just don’t know how safe it is or if that was a one time mishap.

I have been gluten free with celiac for a little over a year and this is definitely one of my go to place places. At canopy road cafe I know I can always be ensured delicious gluten-free food. I have tried both the gf pancakes, and French toast on udis bread with no reaction. I love this place!
