I went to Carmelo’s for a wedding and mentioned Celiac to the waiter before the meal began. They had pasta before the salads came out and substituted my pasta with gluten free pasta without me asking which made me so happy. I had steak as my meal with mashed potatoes. Very good food!

I have eaten at Carmelo’s on multiple occasions without any issues. I always speak to the staff about Celiac. They are knowledgeable and are always sure to let me know what I can and cannot eat.

I have gone to Carmello’s every time I’m in Punta Gorda. This is legitimately a dream to someone with celiac disease and an egg allergy because I can’t often find Italian food that will accommodate my allergies. They do have a few items on the menu that are gluten free. The swordfish dish is one of them and it’s phenomenal. This time I got the shrimp and scallops lemoncelllo with gf gnocchi (I’ve gotten it with the gf penne but the gnocchi is so much better!) we also had their caprese appetizer and it is always so amazing! The waiter was extremely helpful and double checked things for me with the kitchen. I am so grateful for this type of service with my food allergies. It makes dining out so much more enjoyable and I never have to worry when I go to Carmellos!!

Food delicious, but even though I had a gluten free pasta, I had a bad reaction. Perhaps cross contamination.
We went to Carmelo’s under extremely high recommendations from several locals and also friends who recommended it while visiting Punta Gorda. The server at first was attentive, and made his food recommendations. Since I am gluten/dairy free he assured me all is well and even asked how I thought I would enjoy my meal. I chose the shrimp and scallops limoncello. Thinking it would be lemony, I suggested just an olive oil, white wine and garlic sauce instead of the cream sauce. We asked twice for lemon for the water, eventually it came, we never received salt and pepper for the table. Once the meals came, I asked for a clean knife, that never came. My meal was so sweet, I couldn’t eat it and the shrimp and scallops completely lost their flavor, the artichokes all had the tough outer piece still attached, I couldn’t even taste the rest of the meal, because of the sweetness. When the food was delivered, I had taken one bite, the server asked how our food was, but I truly couldn’t comment since it was so hot and it was only a bite of the pasta. He never returned to ask again. When I mentioned about the flavor, he asked me why I didn’t say that when he asked how our meal was. He didn’t come back after saying he would mention it to The chef. Our experience was so negative I have mentioned it on the app I use exclusively when traveling to find gluten free meals.

Fantastic meal! Fantastic service! Bada bing was an amazing appetizer worked well with our table of eight! Gladly recommend!
So delicious. So attentive to Celiac needs. You pay a little more but it's well worth it. Can't wait to go back. I had Gf gnooci and gf penne Alla vodka (modified to be Gf). Absolutely marvelous. đź‘Ś

Starting with the pluses: an absolutely wonderful meal & lots of GF options. The chef there is amazing. But there were some minuses too... Firstly, the waiter was quite loud and rude. He snapped at several of our party when they were explaining their dietary needs to him. Fortunately everyone just laughed about "having to get past the gatekeeper" so we could enjoy the food there! And secondly, a number of people brought dogs in with them, which is not good news if you have asthma (like me). So, great food but if this was Expedia I'd have taken a star off for the dogs and the waiter!

Wonderful experience at Carmelo’s tonight. Carmelo oversaw my meal himself which was filet mignon medallions au gratin in a marsala sauce. It was delicious! The flourless chocolate cake is a must for chocoholics because it’s basically a thick piece of fudge. As others mentioned definitely utilize open table and get a reservation it was packed on a Monday night.

This place was fantastic!! They don’t have a separate GF menu but they have GF penne and Gnocchi. They basically said any dish can be made GF. Tons of different options from steak, chicken, seafood, veal, and pastas. No GF bread but they did have a chocolate flourless cake. We were so stuffed we didn’t get dessert! Making a RESERVATION would be recommended.

Excellent Italian meal and great service. Many gluten free options. I has chicken Limoncello with gf penne pasta and it was very good. They also offer gluten free gnocci. The house balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing was really good. No gf bread and I did not ask about desserts.

The food here is incredible. They are very accommodating for special food issues. I had the salmon and potatoes with veggies. They had to modify the meal for me and it was still incredible.
