The Carnagie Deli is a New York standard, I'd not a gluten free one. They do such a brisk business that simple things like gluten free breads are overlooked. I always bring my own bread and order the pastrami without anything on it so I build.my own pastrami and pickle sandwiches, which are delicious. The rest I don't trust. I always go when passing through the city and will continue to do so. tl;dr - good food. bring your own bread. don't trust their gluten free bread, it might not be real. will visit again.
Cheesecake was delicious but far too big to finish! Gf bread was ok but breakfast made me ill and wait staff not very helpful with gf options
They gave me the normal bread and accused me of lying about it, saying they'd only refund my meal if I physically brought the sandwich back. These people are assholes with no idea how to prepare gluten-free food. I vomited all night :(
Food is delicious I had the scrambled eggs and bacon staff very friendly and helpful. Had gluten free bread which was fantastic
The food, while good, was not worth $18 for a plain sandwich and $10 for a piece of GF cheesecake, even though I got two meals from it. But they do have gluten free white bread and GF cheesecake by the slice. Our waiter was indifferent and not attentive, only seeming friendly when he brought the bill.
The waiter seemed bothered by my questions but had several recommendations for me. I have celiac and told him so. Perhaps he was in a hurry and I know how annoying all the questions can be. Ended up with corned beef omelette. Way more than I could eat but it was wonderful. The rest of my family enjoyed matzoh ball soup and huge sandwiches.
When we went in around 1pm they were out of gluten free bread. Our waiter informed us they only have it sometimes, which was obviously irritating. They do have a gluten free cheesecake but you can't buy it by the slice, you have to buy the whole thing. We ended up leaving without ordering anything.
Gluten free bread is available!! And good!!!
0 gluten free options besides the cheesecake and most cheesecake is gf if you do it wo the crust! They need to get some options including everybody eats rolls!
I went out of my way to go to the Carnegie Deli tonight because it was listed on "Find Me Gluten Free". Although they did have cheesecake, that was ALL they had that was gluten free. No one had any clue what was gluten free or how to prepare it gluten free. They had the gf cheesecake in the same dessert carousel as all of the gluten-full deserts. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for Celiacs.
I've been eating at the Carnegie Deli with my family for years. If I get one of their huge famous sandwiches (my favorite is the corned beef or pastrami) I just don't eat the bread. Today I was having lunch there and I saw a sign on the wall that says they now have GLUTEN FREE CHEESECAKE!!!!! I tried it, it was AMAZING! I had to double check with the waiter to make sure he brought me the right cake because it tastes too good to be gluten free! Yum!They don't have a Gluten Free Menu now but I spoke with some of the staff and since they now have the Gluten Free Cheesecake they're thinking of putting together a Gluten Free Menu. The staff is always really helpful and respectful of dietary needs so if you need them to give you something without the bread they will do it for you.
