Carrabba's has good food & I don't usually get sick. Make sure you confirm with the waiter that they are not going to use the grill baste on your food/cook on the grill since it contains gluten (they can cook it separately for gf entrees - as long as I make sure they do, I don't get sick). They could use a more exciting gf dessert - vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce & nuts is not very exciting. Call ahead seating is recommended - especially on Friday & Saturday nights. This location does different call ahead than the Outback that shares the parking lot in that you can cut off half the wait time with the Carrabba's call ahead but all the wait time at Outback.
Nice selection of gluten free items listed on regular menu. Our server was very knowledgeble about food allergies and assured us of the precautions used to prevent cross contamination. Had the Chicken Bryan with sides of Cesar salad and broccoli. Great tasting food, great service and no problems afterwards.
Gave 3 stars ONLY bc Limited options for GF but was surprised at how nice their Gf pasta was. They were terrified to make me their a la vodka sauce but after talking with chef it was bc he wasn’t sure about vodka. Even though I am a celiac I do not have a problem with full distilled vodka.
So many options. The staff is very knowledgeable. All pasta dishes except for the ravioli can be made gluten-free delicious as-well. All the seasonings are gluten-free so the entire grill no risk of getting sick. Will go back
This chain has taken all kinds of steps to make gluten free dining possible. I have always been a huge fan of Carrabbas and when they changed their baste for the chicken to use rice flour instead of wheat flour many years ago I was impressed. However, this location boils the GF pasta in with the regular pasta water and my dish the last several times has had fettuccine noodles in with my GF pasta. UNACCEPTABLE!! You all need to retrain kitchen staff and get your shit together!
Menu items are not marked GF but it states that GF pasta is available and waitstaff told us that the pasta sauces are GF.
I went to Carabba’s for my Aunt’s birthday because it’s her favorite restaurant. They had “gluten free items” marked on the menu. However, the server didn’t even know what gluten was, not to mention celiac disease. I ordered and off their gluten free selections and made it clear I was sensitive to cross contamination. I ended up getting very sick. The food was alright, but not anything worth getting sick over.
Gluten free menu items clearly marked on the menu. Staff seemed mostly knowledge, but couldn't be sure if the bolognese sauce was GF or not, so they advised me to stick with the pomodoro. Pasta was very good and I did not get sick, but 4 stars for the sauce selection.
Went to Carrabbas for the lunch special. Get one lunch, second one free. While waiting for my niece. The gentlemen (Chris) that helped asked what I would like to drink. I ordered water and lemon. I told him if he had a gluten free beer I would have ordered one. He did a turn and said one moment I might have what you want. Brought out a Redbridge Beer!!! Yayyy!!! So on top of having a delicious lunch and great customer service from Chris, I got a beer!!! Can’t go wrong eating here that’s for sure. Chicken Bryan is my favorite for dinner. Never have gotten sick . I do have celiac.
Ordered carry out last night. Despite specifying that I have a gluten allergy I found three pieces of normal penne pasta mixed into my dish. Their kitchen staff obviously do not take allergens seriously nor do they have proper protocol in place to accommodate celiac guests. Do not go here.
I eat at the Cape Coral location quite often and have never had an issue. I always make the staff aware I have Celiac & a wheat allergy. My reaction is respiratory so any wheat or gluten cross contamination is quickly evident.
I ordered their gf pasta with spaghetti sauce. Within 10 minutes of eating, I was starting to get itchy from having gluten. They wouldn’t confirm but I think they used the same water to boil my pasta in as regular pasta. Very disappointed!
Have gluten free options on the normal menu. Lots of choices, specific GF pasta. The waitress was knowledgeable about celiac. I was able to get Chicken Alfredo with GF noodles. The chicken was really good. Looking forward to going back and trying something else.
Great food good service. Messed up but corrected quickly and the manager watched over itto make sure the order was correct the second time. Very efficiently done. Only weaknesses there is no gluten free desserts.
I would say this place is Celiac friendly. We went last night with my toddler who has celiac and we told our server, Jacob, about her allergy. He assured me the cooks would change their gloves. She had the kids spaghetti (subbed with the GF pasta option, no meatball of course) and she also had bites of my minestrone soup, chicken Marsala, and steamed broccoli (all GF options they have). She had zero reactions and thought the food was yummy :) It’s nice to have a safe place to eat while traveling. Update: We visited again and she had the GF kids grilled chicken and broccoli and she loved it and no reaction! Just thought I would share.
We went to lunch today after I checked the menu on their website and it looked very gluten free with lots of options. It looked online that there was a separate menu with gluten free options. As soon as the waitress came over I knew I was in trouble. The pasta section of the menu was very confusing and made it appear that any of the items were available with gluten free pasta. The waitress had no clue and when I started to ask questions things got very uncomfortable. I thought she would go to the kitchen to ask about the questions I had but just guessed and when I told her I could get very sick if I got something with gluten in it, I just got a blank stare. One of the items she suggested to me was pasta with meatballs and when I was concerned that they had breadcrumbs in them she acknowledged that they probably did. Again, no offer to double check. We should have gotten up and left at that point. I ended up getting the Pasta Bolognese. My biggest concern was my salad dressing. At that point I was so frustrated with her that I didn't think to ask and I ate it anyway. Here's to hoping it was gluten free. I guess my biggest problem is that if you promote gluten free meals, educate your staff so they know what they're talking about. We'll never go back.
Our waiter and the entire staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They reassured me that they were equipped to make my food safe for me to eat. I had the linguini positano . It was so great having pasta again.
Got glutened badly here. The food tasted amazing, they seemed knowledgeable, and they were really kind and made us feel right at home. We wanted to think it would be okay, but cross contact happened somewhere. Sad day! I'm sure this is safe if you aren't celiac, however!
Our waitress was not very knowledgeable. All items are clearly marked as GF except the pasta which you have to ask your server about. I ordered the minestrone soup as a side, which was marked GF. I received my bowl with a large crouton floating in it. When we sent it back the manager came out to reassure us that our food would be gluten-free including the soup. Her explanation was that a crouton must have fallen in it. No apologies. Her reassurance was that her husband’s best friend works there and he’s gluten-free. Definitely could use some education here. As for the three main dishes that were served to us celiacs we seem to have not suffered no ill effects.
Not only was the waitress friendly and knowledgeable but the manager came over with a bag of their GF pasta to show me what was in it. He gave us the lowdown on their preparations for GF orders. We even bought a bag of the pasta they serve. Garofalos. Very good. Will definitely recommend and return.
The menu was clearly marked, our waitress was great and knew what gluten free meant, and when I had questions she double checked with the kitchen. Yum!!
My server was very knowledgeable on both items that are gluten free and dairy free. GF items were designated on the menu. I had GF pasta with Bolognese sauce and added a grilled chicken breast. Very tasty and great service.
The food is amazing!! Make sure you tell your server that you have to be GF and they will cater to those needs. There is a wide verity and selection of food that are GF. The staff is polite and well informed with the menu and Celiac/GF situations.
I have eaten here safely many times. Very safe for celiacs. Lots of gf options. One of my favorites.
