I was given a gluten free menu, sat down, and asked about the chips. I was immediately told their gf fryer broke and they are not doing gluten free chips or menu items, and that they cannot accommodate anyone with medical issues/celiac. This used to be one of my go to places but the last few times we have visited it has been terrible; the inconsistency is disappointing. We walked out and went to South of Nick's in Del Mar for a much better experience.

My favorite GF dining out option in the are. Delicious food, gluten free menu, and mostly well trained staff. Please know that the black beans and rice are gluten free, the refried beans and rice are not. Only once was I served food that was not GF as requested and it was immediately obvious due to the wrong beans/rice. A manager came over and resolved it quickly and with many apologies.

Great experience!! Waiter even had a batch of chips made gluten free for us. They have an extensive gluten free menu as well!

Edit: they were recently closed by the city temporarily because of a rat infestation that took them a couple of weeks to get resolved. Haven’t been back since. *** My favorite place to eat in the area. They know their gluten free stuff. They even have gluten free chips they fry in a dedicated fryer. Huge gf menu just ask your server for one. Can get busy on weekends.

I get sick here every time I order gluten free. There's either too much cross contamination or they are not paying close enough attention and I sense it's the latter.

Make sure you order off the GF menu. I made the mistake of not ordering off the GF menu last night and felt like a mess today. The waitress said, it's the same but it clearly is not. They have some of the best food in San Diego even when ordering off the GF menu. I won't make that mistake again. **Update** just ate here Again for the first time in about six months. Got Gluten’d last night and have had to pay the price all day. I feel like garbage now. The food is really good but the chips seem to have gone downhill and I doubt they use a dedicated fryer anymore or at least they didn’t say they did.

The server seemed really knowledgeable about celiac and said they absolutely could accommodate, but my plate still ended up hace gluten contaminated rice. unfortunately I didn't know this until I had eaten most of it. The server did not deliver the food but came by later to check and said that the Spanish rice was not gluten free and hoped i wasn't "too allergic." He aplogized, but I did get sick. I appreciate their concern and that they apologized, but wish the effort was focused to prevent this rather than comp a $12 meal. My husband's meal was incorrect as well, so I can't recommend due to the chance of negligence or miscommunication.

Very friendly service with an excellent variety of GF menu options. I told the waiter that this was an allergy order with extreme sensitivity to cross contamination, and he replied, "OK, I'll make a note that this is for Celiac." Very refreshing to have wait staff who already know exactly what precautions are needed.

Decided to try this restaurant while on vacation after reading the reviews. It was excellent. All chips are GF and not made in a shared fryer. The GF menu is several pages long. Food was delicious and portions were generous.

Their service was seriously amazing. They have a really extensive gluten free menu and there are so many options. Their chips and salsa are incredible and I got fajitas. I don't think I could have the rice so I got extra beans instead, but it was still so yummy. I just explain really clearly how they need to be careful. I'm a really sensitive celiac and have eaten here several times without problems.

I love the service and Sheila but beware of the hard shell Taco's. I am not 100% they use a dedicated fryer that's not cross contaminationed . The chips are safe but I asked for a soft taco and got a hard shell and my order usually has to be checked .

Great place for a gf night out! Waiters are knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing that bothered me is they said the only margarita that is gf is the "most expensive" one... Even though Jose Cuervo is gf and is one of the cheaper margaritas.

Went with my GF meet up group and they were very attentive to our group. GF chips and salsa on the table and plenty of choices off their GF menu. Manager even checked up on us to make sure no issues. Great service too. Highly recommend
Love this place! Have been here many times without issue.
Tons of savory, spicy and flavorful gluten free options. Very nice atmosphere.
All the chips are made gluten free now!

They may have a gluten free menu, and claim to have a dedicated gluten free fryer, but our server had no knowledge of Celiac/gluten free and didn't care either. My husband and I both ordered from the GF menu, and I mentioned that I have Celiac and another allergy as well (cilantro) when ordering. Our food arrived, and when I asked the runner if it was all GF, he just said 'sure.' One small taste of the rice, and I knew there was cilantro in it, so had to spit that out which is always attractive in a restaurant. When I asked our server, Violeta, if there was cilantro in my dish she needed to go back and check (which should have already happened) and came back laughing and said 'Yes.' So our food possibly had gluten, and definitely had cilantro, so basically the service was terrible. I would not recommend to other Celiacs.
Regarding the dedicated fryer, this was being cleaned during the lunch hour (12:45 on a Thursday) so chips + other fried food were unavailable from the GF menu. Our server didn't mention this, a busser was kind enough to answer us.
And, if you are wondering, it is actually very easy to eat at most Mexican establishments with a cilantro allergy! This was only my 3rd encounter where someone was too busy to care.

Fantastic food, knowledgeable staff, and a separate fryer for GF foods. highly recommended.
