Dedicated gluten free menu. Staff took care to ask questions. Good food ... good experience.
Server was very attentive to my questions and issues. I ordered grilled chicken, and when it came before I could ask about the sauce that was on it she assured me that it WAS GF. Food was wonderful!
I requested A gluten-free menu when I made my reservation. It was already waiting on my table for me when I was seated. My server was extremely attentive to my gluten sensitivity and made sure that it was noted on my order even though everything I ordered was off of the gluten-free menu. In addition, I was celebrating my birthday, and a crème brûlée was brought to my table so that I could celebrate.
Very pleasant dining experience! We ate lunch here and had a great time. Our server Michael took great precautions to make sure that our multiple allergies were taken into account before our order was placed. A manager stopped by our table to verify the order as well. Small GF menu but the food was good. I give 4 stars because I would have liked to perhaps see a few more GF selections on the menu. We all had the grilled chicken and asparagus.
Even after informing the server about my CD, my salad came with croutons and the hummus trio came with plantain chips which are fried in the communal fryer. I'm going on day 8 of being sick. This place should not even offer a gluten free menu.
NO confidence in GF menu. Server seemed unsure what I was asking. No gluten free fries or bread (for my GF 8 yrold). Asked for steak that was ordered medium but arrived rare (bloody) to be cooked - no confidence it was cooked in GF area - definitely not the 2nd time. Literally fed the steal to the fish in the harbor. Picked the restaurant as one that advertises gluten sensitive menu. very disappointed.
Fantastic meal. Both Nana and her granddaughter are GF. They were very accommodating and switched out sides to meet their needs. Prime rib for grandchild and grilled chicken for Nana. Mash potatoes were also superb. Very GF friendly with menu.
They have a gluten sensitive menu and staff are very knowledgeable. We had a hummus sampling appetizer with plantain chips which was very good! Plantain chips were a great substitute. I had the filet and Yukon mashed potatoes as well as a mango and a pomegranate mojito. Nothing made me sick and the service was excellent. Great view if you go before it gets dark!
Service is hardly sub-par. Took forever to be seated even though the place was mostly empty. They got our salad order wrong TWICE. They then proceeded to bring me a completely rare steak when I ordered it medium well. Once they brought us the right food it all tasted alright, but nothing special. At least I didn't get sick!
Felt very safe here Policy that manager comes out to take your order when they are notified of an allergy. They take it serious. The chef delivered my plate verifying all of my allergies were accounted for. However...just to note $15-$50 a plate.
I went here with my partner who is both gluten, and lactose, intolerant for a bite to eat over the 4th of July Weekend. I informed the server and the hostess that of the dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating. My partner had the grilled chicken, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a treat, because my partner usually cannot have them at restaurants since most places include cream and butter. However, this restaurant, if told in advance, will make any meals with allergies in a separate area and did so wonderfully. The food was phenomenal, the service was a bit slow (but it was a busy holiday weekend in a major city), and the drinks were really good as well. I enjoyed in immensely, as did my partner, and I look forward to coming back here.
The only thing worse than having no idea about gluten is sending a kitchen manager out who is suppose to be an expert and gives false info. All they know is items with flour have gluten, they couldn't tell me about their bacon or any of they seasonings they used. They also told me that items I knew were not gf were safe. If you eat here, do not trust the kitchen staff. While they claim to understand Celiac's needs they have no idea. Additionally I am allergic to sulfates which I was not shy about, they gave me a flour less fudge cake LOADED with rum which hospitalized me with one bite. I paid $40 for my meal and $250 for the ER visit.
Waiter has zero knowledge of gf. Brought out my NY strip with a side of asparagus which had bread crumbs SPRINKLED on top even though the server was informed of my allergy. They didn't give me a new dish even though there was definite contamination- they just scooped the potatoes and steak off onto another plate with the new plain inedible asparagus. They did comp me a free creme brûlée for the trouble but I don't think I'd recommend coming here unless in a pinch
Me and My family is being going to the Chart House for so many celebrations for the past 10years .... But this past year we try for so many times and get more disappointed every visit:(. Took my family from France over the summer there and the view that they offer me is that half of my party of 12 have to face the wall ... That was so embarrassing..... Mother's Day lunch? From bad to worst .... I feel like they being putting us on the worst sitting with no City view... Our last try was today for brunch to celebrate the kids 26 and 24 birthday .... They do not take reservations for brunch. We got there by 11:30am , all the tables are empty and the hosts told us if we want to have a table sitting we have to wait until 1:45pm ... To be nice we decide to eat at the bar ... Another mistake service was horrible , my daughter didn't eat anything and we left there deciding it was are last visit ... Just can't stand that place anymore.... Every is so rude and disrespectful
Food- Amazing. I had salmon. The chef was sent to our table to talk over the GF menu with me. He was able to make the dish I wanted that was not on the GF menu and modify it to be GF. My husband had a perfect steak and mashed potatoes. He was thrilled. His dish was GF as well. Creme brûlée for dessert. Divine. Service- Sub par. We had a reservation and were seated 15min after our reserved time. Our table was awkward. By husband felt like he was sitting in a walkway while my chair back touched the chair behind me. It took forever to be greeted. No water on the table. Finally placed our drink order. 10 min later drinks arrive and so the evening went. The kitchen was slow, the server was slow. Other servers near us seemed very good so there's a chance you could get a good one. Ambiance-View was beautiful though the restaurant needs an update. Definitely not a swanky atmosphere. Would I return? No. Service stunk.
I ordered from their gluten free menu and had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, steak with mashed potatoes and steamed mixed veggies for my entree and creme brûlée for dessert. All was delicious. Granted, pretty much everything I ordered was naturally gluten free, but I had no issues.
I have eaten here a few times and always get special treatment here since I have to eat gluten free and have other food allergies on top of it (bone fish being one of them, ironically). They do have a decent but small gluten free menu with a great chef salad (I suggest adding some grilled shrimp to it- yum!). And the best part is it appears to me that some of the items on the GF menu are actually lunch items, so they cost less at dinner, ha ha!
The atmosphere and food was amazing. However the waiter was not knowledgable in the meaning of GF DF, he brought out Pita triangles in the Plantain Chip basket. We also ordered a salad that did not come out. However, we shared the Hummus trio, the Oysters and the Bronzed Tilapia and it was both GF and DF. Absolutely Delicious!!!
Our server was well versed in gluten allergies and could help me choose exactly what I wanted off the gluten free menu. I ordered a lovely fish dish with a lemon sauce and mashed potatoes. I also ordered a creme brûlée for dessert. My husband ordered something not on the GF menu (he's not celiac) but they adapted his dish by switching sauces so we could share our food.
The food was excellent, with a good variety of fresh foods, meats and fish. But I was more impressed with the staff. I felt very safe there and all my questions were answered immediately, with knowledge and experience. It was pricey but would do again.
Four stars for having a gluten-free menu and not getting me sick (they would have made me sick once if I had not ben vigilant), but only two or three stars for the quality of the food. This is a chain restaurant and quality of ingredients reflects that. The prices are VERY high for food not nearly as good as what I prepare at home every night: $20 bucks for a mediocre salad bar, $30 for fish. The first time I ate here they brought my green beans with a soy sauce-based glaze and I had to send my plate back. I spent a lot of time that day watching while everyone else ate bread and then their entrees while I waited for something I could eat. They only charged about $7 for my 7-year-old daughter to eat from the salad bar. That or potatoes were her only options (she doesn't like meat). Definitely no GF pasta, pizza or bread here. Croutons and pasta are reasonably well segregated from GF foods in the salad bar. The salad bar had both raw and canned veggies and fruit, beans, cheeses, spring mix, romaine, spinach, hard-boiled egg, sardines, caviar, pasta salad, etc., etc. None of it was particularly flavorful or fresh-not that it was rancid, but this was basically low-grade grocery store quality. Clearly nothing very local, and probably not organic, either. The menu doesn't change seasonally (e.g. artichokes and asparagus), which means food is being shipped here from all over the world. The Chart House is popular with out of town family for its beautiful nautical architecture, decor, and oceanside location with a view across the bay. The ono (from Hawaii) was fresh and tasty, but local seafood options are limited or nonexistent. They are clueless with regard to the sustainability of the seafood offered on their menu. I recommend you bring your smartphone app for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program and ask your server where the fish is from so you can look it up yourself.
Due to my gluten intolerance, I was very happy that they have a gluten-free menu. A good variety of choices. I had the Grilled Salmon with garlic mashed potato, with grilled aspargus and tomato. Very delicious. They do offer 2 desserts one being creme brulee. But I was to full I had Hummus trio (traditional,Roasted red Pepper,edamame)served with plantaine chips for Appetizer. Over all very pleased, friendly staff, and the manager also came over to my table to talk to me and made sure my food was cooked a gluten-free meal. I would Definitely return.
