I got the chicken pecan salad with no croutons or croissant (you have to be VERY specific on what you don’t want) and with no cheese. The food was absolutely scrumptious and they have a dedicated french fry frier so I was able to get some and be perfectly fine!The staff is semi-knowledgable and is accommodating to your needs. Unfortunately, my group’s order got messed up multiple times and I had to send my salad back to get remade because they put the croissant on it after I asked them not to. The manager came and apologized about everything, then took my salad off of our bill which I was very appreciative of.
Separate gluten free menu. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. Ate there late at night for dinner after long drive. Didn't ask about separate fryers as didn't want any, but they had them listed on GF menu. Lots of entree and side options. Did not have any reaction and I am super sensitive so pleased overall. Nice atmosphere/decor. Though no GF desserts, waitress made me a generous ice cream with hot fudge that was delicious.
Staff was great. I had a Ribeye and steamed broccoli. Requested both Gluten free, dairy free and totally plain. Food was definitely not gluten-free. I am now in day two of a celiac reaction and am in a lot of pain. I would definitely not recommend Cheddars for a person that has celiacs disease.
Although there is a gluten-free menu the server had little knowledge about food choices. Dinner was ordered without sauce as recommended on the menu, we told the server about the wheat allergy and dinner came out with the sauce on the side which had spilled onto the plate. It took 30 minutes to get the manager to our table, by then everyone had finished eating.
There was a gluten friendly menu with a bunch of options. This isn’t a dedicated GF kitchen and they acknowledged the potential for cross-contamination. I ordered the lemon pepper whitefish, and it was excellent. I had no aftereffects so I’d say the meal was GF. I took off a star because there was no GF dessert option.
They do emphasize they have gluten friendly options. I have eaten here twice and had no problems. First time the waitress told me they take "allergies" very seriously. (I usually say allergy or let them assume I am gf because of an allergy.) Second time the waitress listened to my spiel and just said ok.
I wish I didn’t have to select one star. The staff was not knowledgeable at this location and I was served cold food with butter. (I also have a dairy allergy which I made sure up front was well known) the manager this night was very accommodating and had my food remade, it was very kind gesture but took almost 2 hours of waiting since we were sat.
Ordered the Dijon Chicken and Mushrooms (which was delicious) and realized I had gotten glutened upon leaving the restaurant. Not sure if it was cross-contamination (which isn’t usually a big problem for me) or the sauce over the chicken or the seasonings in the rice. (I asked the server before ordering about the seasonings and was told they everything on the ‘Gluten-Friendly Selections’ menu was gluten free.) Celiac
I go here frequently because I’m worried about getting sick. Ask for the GF menu and let the waiter/waitress know as well. I’ve been here a dozen times with no incident. I typically get the peppered white fish. It’s a scratch kitchen so food will take a bit.
I was so excited to eat here because they have a large GF menu available online. I studied the menu and ordered a salad off of it. Some salads said that you needed to order without croutons and some said there were none on it. I ordered a salad with no croutons even listed and it was served with croutons and a big ole roll on top. Not happy.

I enjoyed a great meal with the family. The inability to order a house salad that was gluten-free and dairy-free is the only reason I rated them down at 3-stars. With such a large gluten-friendly menu, ordering a plain house salad without croutons, cheese or eggs should be within the realm of possibility.
You can eat gluten free here if you are very clear and specific as the staff vary in their knowledge of gluten. In my experience, they will put a croissant on any salad unless you clearly say you don’t want that. That is a great customer service thing if you don’t have a gluten issue, but not at all ideal if you do. I’ve done the choose two lunch of salad and baked potato and I’ve also had the Key West Chicken and shrimp. Both tasted fine and I didn’t get sick. This usually isn’t my first choice of a place to eat, but I can make it work if needed.
They have a dedicated GF menu. Fries are cooked separately. I always bring my own bun due to being gluten, dairy, egg and soy free. Enjoyed dinner out with family.
They have a gluten free menu and the staff was very accommodating to my allergies. The manager came out to make sure everything was covered. They read the ingredients list for everything I ordered since I also have a soy allergy. Food was good too!
They have a separate GF menu, but be cautious they say their Fries are GF but the are fried in shared grease with chicken tenders and such. I have had their grilled fish, shrimp, and chicken (without bourbon sauce) and have not gotten sick or cross contamination. Sides wise I’ve had the salad, broccoli, rice, coleslaw, and corn and I was fine.
updated 2018: Travis left and moved to FL. New management doesn’t care the way he did. Their GF menu options are so small and I’ve been cross-contaminated. The people make all the difference. Info from 2016: Ask for Chef/Manager Travis. He will come talk to you about GF options. He's a wonderful chef and you will get food with great flavor. He's very knowledgeable and has even tweaked items from the main menu to make them GF for me. Fantastic place! The waitstaff gets it too.
Gluten friendly menu with quite a few options. Separate frier for the french fries. I recommend Cheddar’s for kids and adults.
When we arrived I asked for a gluten free menu, when I read that there could potentially be cross -contamination in their statement, I asked out server how “safe” the food would truly be in her opinion. She got the kitchen manager, who was super friendly as well, and they made sure that my order, being celiac, would be 100% ok for me to eat.... just make sure you say something about it prior too and you’ll be good to go :)
The do have a an allergy menu. U must ask for it. Also make it a point to tell the server that u have an allergy, it’s not a preference. The reason for 3 stars, the sauce I couldn’t have still came on my plate and I had them take it back. Nothing, thankfully, was contaminated.
They have a whole gluten free menu with probably upwards of 20 options to choose from. I’ve tried both the Dijon chicken and the Baja chicken and haven’t gotten sick! I’m glad to have found this new option for eating out in Lincoln and Omaha! I’m celiac and haven’t had issues.
I ate here yesterday and ordered off of their “gluten sensitive” menu and told them I had celiac. The waiter assured me that he would tell the kitchen. I got my salad and there was a large croissant placed right on top. I am newly diagnosed, three weeks actually, and have taken great precautions in my kitchen and diet and have been feeling great! This was the first time I had ventured to eat out at a restaurant. I made the mistake of just removing the croissant and not sending it back and thought it would be fine. I got sick about two hours later with nausea headache, chills and diarrhea that lasted about 24 hours. I have learned my lesson about gluten contamination. Who knows what else happened back in the kitchen. So I would say be very careful if you eat at cheddars, I don’t think they know what gluten is.
Even though they have a gluten free menu they recommended I not eat there and I'm sensitive not Celiac. We were there for my moms bday so I sat for ninety minutes with a tea. They didn't even know the chips were subject to cross contact in the fryer. Worst experience ever. Never going back. Didn't want to make any effort to see that I had something safe to eat.
The general manager understands gluten allergies and went into the kitchen to confirm exact ingredients in the sauce on what I wanted to order before I placed my order, and helped me modify a menu item to be gluten free. I ended up having grilled Salmon with a baked Sweet Potato and Broccoli. And they grilled the salmon in a clean pan to prevent cross contamination.
I have Celiac disease and had a great meal.
Some of the staff are very knowledgeable about gluten sensitivity and some have looked at me like I was speaking Chinese!?! Just be careful that they understand that you can’t have it! It’s not just a bread issue.
Update: It's a "scratch kitchen" now. Got a GF menu and had the Dijon chicken. Delish! 4 years ago in the summer I didn't ask for a gf menu. I ordered their grilled lemon pepper chicken, and I enjoyed it. So far as I know, none of their soups are gf.
I was impressed with the number of gluten free selections on the menu, including gluten free kids meals. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and even double checked with the kitchen when I was unsure about a selection. We will be back. Food was delicious
