We have been coming to the Destin area approximately once per year for over 10 years. This used to be our go to restaurant, often visiting two, even three times per trip. We first noticed a decline about two years ago when they ran out of GF buns the entire length of our stay. Recently we decided to give them another chance but this time the fryer was broken and they refused to discount our ticket even though he only received basically half of the meal (burger sans fries). The GF menu seems to be shrinking, the service has becone really poor, and the food (including that for non-GF party members) seems to have declined. We'll be buying our burgers from LuLu's from now on.
We are here in January and February each year. I like their hamburger and fries. They are always helpful with menu. I heard service had been very slow but maybe new management because I have not had a problem.
I had high hopes for this place. The GF part is that I did not get sick. But the GF bun was burnt- they took to back and somewhat burnt the second bun. I was tired of waiting so I just pealed the burnt parts of the 2nd bun. It still had some what burnt taste. They really did not care much. I will not return, but it may be safe to eat there.
They have a gluten free menu with gluten free buns and gluten free fries!
Bartender Bart did a great job. Good GF menu and Manager brought food. Fries were good and they have a good GF bun for the burger
Went to this restaurant because it was advertised as being gluten free friendly...HUGE mistake! First, the waitress was confused as to if they had gf fries and brought us sweet potato fries instead of the advertised gf French fried potatoes. Then after eating half of his burger, my son realized he had a regular bun instead of a gf bun. Asked the waitress to check and sure enough he was brought a regular bun with his burger. So disappointing!!
My celiac family and I thoroughly enjoyed this place! You can have french fries and burgers with a bun here. We were worried one of my son's bergers was not a gluten free bun because it was toasted so perfectly! Even the chef came out to reassure us it was all gluten free. Highly recommend.
While joy riding after work on a rainy day, my friend and I happened to drive through the Destin area and decided to look for a safe spot to eat. Neither of us were dressed for any of the restaurant at Grand Boulevard that offer gluten-free accommodations, so we look up our other options on this app.
After reading the reviews on how thorough the restaurant is with preventing cross contamination with items containing gluten, we still did our due diligence to ask the waitress about the process. She explained that they have a button on their POS machine that tells the kitchen a meals is to be prepared gluten-free. The kitchen staff then uses new utensils, gets the gluten-free buns from a safely stored area away from the gluten-containing bund, and then the buns and meat are prepared on a section dedicated for gluten free cooking. They even have a dedicated gluten free fryer for their french fries, sweet potato fries, and chips. She even went back to the kitchen and asked the mayonnaise was certified gluten free, which it was.
As for the actual meal, it was such a treat. Both my friend and I eat on a strict gluten-free diet, so finding a place that offered gluten-free burgers with safe french fries from a dedicated fryer made a rainy day great! We split the "kickin chicken nachos" for an appetizer (we asked for jalapeños and onions be left off as a personal preference, not related to a gluten-free). For my entree, I had the gluten free grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and mayo with an egg on top and a side of sweet potato fries. My friend had the gluten free bacon gaucomole burger with sweet potato fries. It was so good!
Next time I might try the citrus grilled chicken entree that waitress raved about and save some room for dessert!
This was a great experience! I'm newly diagnosed and eating out is sort of a dread right now. I read the reviews and decided to try it. The food was great and because we went when it was slow, they were able to make chips gluten free for me. Our server double checked everything and was so wonderful! I highly recommend it AND they have wonderful gluten free buns YUMMMM!
They said that they no longer have a physical GF menu, but the server and hostess were very knowledgable. We were told that they have dedicated fryers for the French fries and a dedicated grill for burgers and guided as to which menu items were safe. The burgers are served on GF buns. Two members of our family are highly sensitive and did fine with burgers and fries. Burgers ordered medium were well done, will order med rare next time. Overall very accommodating and was a good experience.
As of right now they DO NOT have a gluten free menu at all. Was told they were bought out and do not have a gluten free menu. Was told French fries and buns are gluten free. I wanted chicken, so manager is trying to accommodate me with grilled wings and BBQ sauce. We shall see how it turns out! I am thankful the manager is trying to work with me.
Every time I go here I am offered Gluten Free silverware (I do not need it though) and they give me an actual Gluten Free menu, not a printed out sheet of paper, or a chart to decipher. The service is wonderful and the food taste great! It is also a very kid friendly restaurant so I am able to take my toddler there too without it being a problem.
Update: Sadly this place has closed. Shame
Best GF burger I've had in a long time! Service was a little slow but very friendly and the manager brought out our food to us! They have a separate frier for the fries and made sure to reassure us that they try their best to avoid cross contamination (however they do have a disclaimer stating that it is still a possibility) Over all it was amazing though, and we will be coming back!
This place used to be a lot better. They changed the menu and staff and it went through a rough patch with the gluten free but they’re starting to get their act together again. Be sure to double/triple check the meal isngluten free and the fries were in the dedicated fryer. They have two fryers, one for fries and other gluten free options and the other for non gf options. Sometimes one fryer breaks but they usually warn you of the situation.
UPDATE: THIS BUSINESS HAS CLOSED! The service was not good. Seemed like the table next to us had the same issue. Once your server left the table they were not to be seen again so you had to ask other servers. The manager brought my food out personally which made me feel safe because I get very nervous eating out. The food was safe for me that was the most important thing.
